Lamborghini presented its new junior supercar, named Temerario, which translates into Russian as «daring», «bold», «dashing», at the Monterey Automobile Week (USA, California). Lamborghini Temerario will go on sale early next year.
In April, Lamborghini showed the farewell Huracan, and yesterday in Monterey its successor Temerario debuted, technically much more complex and, obviously, much more expensive — the price has not yet been announced. Following the flagship supercar Revuelto, Temerario received a plug-in hybrid power plant, and this is a different power plant, and not taken from Revuelto, although in terms of layout, Temerario and Revuelto really have a lot in common. Both models are positioned as HPEV (High Performance Electrified Vehicle), that is, the ability to charge the battery from an external source is not indicated in the abbreviation, although in fact it is.
Unlike the almost entirely carbon Revuelto, the Temerario body is made of aluminum alloy, while optimization of technological processes allowed to reduce the length of welded seams by 80% compared to the Huracan body, torsional rigidity increased by more than 20%. The outer plumage is partially made of carbon fiber. The interior, as reported, has become noticeably more spacious and easily accommodates two basketball players. The complex technical filling, thanks to the skillful layout, left some space for luggage — the front compartment holds 112 liters. The overall length of the Temerario is 4706 mm, width — 1996 mm, height — 1201 mm, wheelbase — 2658 mm.
The heart of the Temerario power plant is a completely new V8 petrol engine with the factory index L411 and a working volume of 3995.2 cm3. This engine is initially hybridized, namely combined with a compact electric motor with an axial magnetic flux. Other features of the new V8 include the so-called flat crankshaft, titanium connecting rods, a dry sump lubrication system and two compact turbochargers located in the V of the block. The maximum boost pressure is 2.5 bar, the pressure in the direct fuel injection system is 350 bar. The engine is short-stroke and easy to turn: the cylinder diameter is 90 mm, the piston stroke is 78.5 mm, the compression ratio is 9.3. Maximum power is 800 hp. at 9000-9750 rpm, maximum torque — 730 Nm at 4000-7000 rpm, maximum crankshaft speed — 10,000 rpm! The sound of the new V8 was worked on especially carefully, it changes depending on the selected driving mode, in Sport and Corsa modes an absolutely enchanting crescendo is promised.

The V8 engine is installed in front of the rear axle, and behind it, that is, in the stern of the supercar, is a new 8-speed automatic transmission of the DCT type (with two clutches), transmitting all the power from the internal combustion engine to the rear wheels. Unlike a similar gearbox on the Revuelto, there is a reverse gear here. The front wheels are rotated by two individual electric motors with an axial magnetic flux, which, due to the design features, do not require an intermediate gearbox to transmit power to the wheels. Each of the three electric motors weighs only 15.5 kg and develops a peak power of 110 kW (150 hp), continuous power — 60 kW (82 hp). The front power module, which in addition to the electric motors includes drive shafts and power electronics, weighs only 73 kg.

The battery in the Temerario is the same as in the Revuelto: it is located in the central tunnel and has a capacity of 3.8 kW h. Fully charging the battery from a 7 kW terminal takes 30 minutes — this is a rather pointless procedure, because in about the same time or faster the battery can be charged while driving using the Recharge mode of the power plant and the regenerative mode of the electric motors, which is activated automatically when braking and coasting. The electric range is not specified (in the Revuelto it is only 10 km). With the internal combustion engine turned off, the Temerario drives on the front wheel drive, since, let us recall, the rear electric motor is combined with the V8 and cannot work separately from it. Accordingly, all-wheel drive is only possible in hybrid mode. The maximum combined power of the Temerario power plant is 920 hp, acceleration to 100 km/h takes 2.7 s, the maximum speed is 343 km/h.

The Temerario has double wishbone suspension all round with adaptive dampers. Carbon ceramic brakes are standard: the front brake discs are 410 mm in diameter (10-piston calipers), the rear ones are 390 mm (4-piston calipers). The standard Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires are 255/35 ZR 20 in front and 325/30 ZR 21 in the rear; track-oriented Bridgestone Potenza Race tires are available as an option.
The supercar's dry weight is 1,690 kg — more than three hundred kilograms more than the lightest all-wheel drive Huracan Performante, but 25 kg can be dropped with the optional Alleggerita package (translated as «lightweight») with a lighter and more efficient in terms of downforce carbon fiber aerodynamic plumage. In addition to the usual Lamborghini driving modes Citta, Strada, Sport, Corsa and Corsa Plus, the Temerario has a three-level hooligan Drift Mode, which simplifies sliding.

There's nothing fancy about the Lamborghini Temerario's cabin, but the attention to detail is impeccable. Comfortable seats with plenty of electrical adjustments, heating and ventilation are standard, while lighter, stiffer seats with carbon fiber frames are available as an option. There are three screens on the front panel: a 12.3-inch instrument panel, an 8.4-inch setup and multimedia screen in the center, and a narrow 9.1-inch strip for the front passenger, duplicating part of the readings from the instrument cluster.

After the start of sales next year, Temerario will gradually begin to acquire various special versions — we believe that this supercar has at least ten years of a fruitful market career ahead of it.
