GMC Sierra HD Heavyweight Pickup Gets AT4X and AEV Editions

The American brand has not yet announced the prices of new versions of its full-size truck. Cars will appear in dealerships this autumn.

The GMC brand is part of the American concern General Motors. She introduced the current generation of the Sierra pickup truck in 2018, in turn, the “heavy” version with an increase in HD (Heavy Duty) was declassified at the beginning of 2019. Now GMC has revealed a couple of new versions of the Sierra HD – the AT4X and the AEV Edition. By the way, it is worth noting that the GMC Sierra 2500HD did not have an AT4X version before, but other models of this brand have the corresponding top-end version.

This vehicle has optional off-road equipment and Goodyear off-road tires Territory 35″ diameter, new differential with electronic rear axle lock, suspension raised by 38mm, upgraded steering knuckles, different shock absorbers, aluminum front pad and other changes.

Inside, leather-trimmed front seats with massage function, woodgrain decor, and a 12-speaker Bose sound system (all included in the Obsidian Rush package) are provided. The GMC Sierra HD AT4X variant also has a new Off-Road driving mode that allows you to customize the operation of a wide variety of truck systems — ABS, stability and traction control, throttle position, and the Allison ten-speed automatic transmission shift system.

The «stuffing» of the new version of the all-wheel drive truck remains standard — we are talking about a Duramax diesel engine, the volume of which is 6.6 liters: this engine was upgraded as part of a recent heavyweight update, it was replaced with a turbocharger, as a result, its return is now equal to 477 hp. (25 hp more than the pre-reform version), and the maximum torque is 1320 Nm (88 Nm more).

Another version of the model is the GMC Sierra HD AEV Edition. This version of the «heavyweight» differs due to a more aggressive appearance, it was developed jointly with American Expedition Vehicles. These pickups have original 18-inch wheels, steel bumpers, an integrated winch and tow hooks. A higher level of protection is provided by special durable steel linings. The interior is the same — with the Obsidian Rush package.

GMC has not yet declassified the cost of new versions of Sierra HD, but the AT4X and AEV Edition will be in place of the top performance, so it will obviously be more expensive than the current pickups. According to the official website of the brand, in the home market, the current truck can be bought for 44,400 — 91,900 dollars. According to the plan, new versions of trucks will appear in dealerships this autumn.
