Jurgen Klopp insists his summer transfer plans are not dependent on Liverpool beating Manchester United to last place in the Champions League.
Liverpool are considering offers for Chelsea's Mason Mount, Brighton's Alexi Mac Allister and Bayern Munich youth Ryan Gravenberh as Klopp looks to upgrade his midfield ahead of next season.
Klopp is confident that his main targets are not to give up a move to Anfield if they have to spend a season in the Europa League.
“We can't guarantee one thing this year. Champions League football,” Klopp said.
“But everything else is still the same as it was before. This is a fantastic football club with a very, very good football team that will hopefully get even better next season. That's all. It's not that hard. I've barely talked to the player and everything sounds great and then they say 'See you if this [Champions League qualification] happens'.
«It's still Liverpool, we're really attractive to a lot of players and should not be forgotten. That's why it doesn't bother me.»
Klopp acknowledged that it might be harder to lure some high-profile targets if they fall outside of the top four, but suggested that a prolonged banishment has more serious consequences than missing out. for one season.
“Without the Champions League, everything is more difficult,” he said.
“That's the way it is, especially in the long term, so we should not do such things more often. But other than that, it's a completely normal situation we're in in terms of talking and persuading [players to join].
“When I talk to a player and if I'm allowed to talk to a player — which rarely happens, but the moment you — you understand in his eyes that it has already cleared up. At the moment we cannot tell anyone that we will definitely be in the Champions League next year, so if we talk to him, it is already clear that he is aware of this situation.
“It is. I just think that if you join a club you want to achieve something with the club and not wait for the club to achieve it earlier. Obviously we need to fight for the Champions League and fight for trophies. If you want to be a part of it, welcome.”
Liverpool need to win their remaining three matches and hope United drop points in two of their last four games to get past them.
Klopp's assumption was that Liverpool would miss out on the elite title challenge. the past few months, but his recent tactical gimmicks have delivered six consecutive victories.
He traveled to Leicester City on Monday looking to improve his performance, especially away from Anfield.
“We played some very bad games. We didn't get it right so our away record is still not great,» Klopp said.
«This season I think we're third or fourth in the home table and «where- That». ; in the guest table, so it's still not great. That is why we are in this position.
“We had a very bad season. I think everyone in this room agrees and now we have 62 points. It's strange, but it shows that the boys still have qualities, and now I'm very glad that we were able to show ourselves a little. How it ends is not really the point.
“I know that everyone wants to get into the Champions League, I understand that 100 percent the way I want it. , it's just not likely due to the situation we've created. But to appear and show again, we can do special things that I'm very happy about. Winning six games in a row is something special.
“This part of the season has given us a clear sign that we are still on top. Not everything is so bad in us and around us. We had a bad season, but let's see what happens.»
