A former American magazine columnist who won $5m (£4m) in a civil sexual harassment and defamation case against Donald Trump is suing him for additional damages after , as he called it «crazy work» the day after the court's verdict.< /p>
E. Gene Carroll is seeking at least another $10 million from the former president, according to a lawsuit, for comments he made on CNN two weeks ago, as well as for the initial alleged defamation.
< p>May 10 at City Hall TV hosted by American Channel, Mr. Trump called Ms. Carroll «crazy» and accused her of telling a «fictitious story.»
He told the audience at the event: «What kind of woman meets someone and cites them as an example, and in a few minutes you are already playing hack in the dressing room, okay?
Mr. Trump also repeated his claims that he did not know her. A New York court found him responsible for sexually assaulting Carroll at the city's department store in the 1990s and slandering her after he left the White House.

Her lawyers have since filed an amended complaint in the 2019 defamation lawsuit, separate from the May 9 case, which said that Mr. Trump, «unafraid of the jury's verdict, again maliciously slandered Carroll» on CNN.< /p>
Roberta Kaplan, Ms. Carroll's lawyer, wrote: «These statements drew cheers and applause from the live audience.»
The document said, «Trump's post-sentencing defamatory statements show the depth of his malice towards Carroll, as it is difficult to imagine defamatory behavior that could be more motivated by hatred, ill will or malice.»
CNN faced backlash after a television special aired before a pro-Republican audience that gave Trump a round of applause. But other critics said he should be allowed to offer his version of events.
Ms. Carroll's lawyers added: «Trump has used a national platform to humiliate and ridicule Carroll.»
» He incited a laughing audience as he snubbed his violent sexual assault, called Carroll names, implied that Carroll had asked for assault, and rejected a jury verdict exonerating Carroll.
The amended lawsuit bogged down. in court appeals. Mr. Trump's lawyers argue that the ex-president's responses to reporters' questions about the allegations in 2019 while he was in office were part of his government job, which could mean he will not be held accountable.
