Canadian electric vehicle startup AXL Electric Vehicles has unveiled its first model, the SharX-5 mid-size crossover with rich equipment and a fairly affordable price of 39 $800.
Now, amid the aggravation of the geopolitical situation, it is not the best time for startups, many of them have burst due to lack of funding, but the Canadian company AXL Electric Vehicles, headquartered in the city of Newmarket (Ontario), apparently has money — behind it there are some investors from the UAE, and the premiere of the AXL SharX-5 crossover took place yesterday in the capital of this country, the city of Dubai. Ali Eslami is the CEO of the Canadian startup.
AXL Electric Vehicles wants to bring luxury electric vehicles to the world at an affordable price. How this happens, we have already seen on the example of numerous Chinese samples, the secret of potential success is simple: a modest technical stuffing combined with an attractive design and rich equipment. Conceptually, the AXL SharX-5 is very close to the well-accustomed Chinese front-wheel drive Skywell ET5 electric crossover in the Russian market. The fact that Skywell ET5 is expensive here is, so to speak, the peculiarities of Russian market regulation, in China it is quite an affordable model.

The AXL SharX-5 will have a single electric motor on the front axle with 209 horsepower, enough to get it to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds. The capacity of the lithium-iron-phosphate battery is 67 kWh, a full charge should be enough for 500 km (which cycle is not specified). Other specifications not yet disclosed.

The standard equipment of the AXL SharX-5 includes modern electronic driver assistants (including adaptive cruise control), all-round cameras, a three-screen front panel, ventilated and heated seats, a panoramic glass roof, premium trim (including a crystal selector driving modes), premium audio system, the ability to remotely control the car through a proprietary mobile application, 20-inch alloy wheels.
on SharX-5 from North America, the Middle East, Europe, Asia and even Australia, but does not say when and where production will begin. The $39,800 price tag doesn't sound like much at first glance, but for comparison, let's say that the base Tesla Model Y now starts at $47,490 in the US.
Let's add that AXL Electric Vehicles is far from the first electric vehicle startup from Canada to try to enter the market with an original product: last fall we talked about Potential Motors' fun off-road off-road vehicle Potential Adventure 1, and the Project Arrow electric vehicle, which is being developed by the Canadian Association of Manufacturers, also has good prospects. Automotive Components (APMA).
