Manchester City narrowly missed one win with an important treble as they beat Manchester United 2-1 in the FA Cup final thanks to a brace from Ilkay Gündogan.
The City captain entered the record books as he scored the fastest goal in FA Cup Final history, breaking the goal with a graceful volley after 12 seconds.
United are aiming to win both domestic cups in the same season for the first time and shatter City's hopes of emulating their own historic 1999 treble that matched the game when Bruno Fernandes converted a penalty.
But Gundogan restored City's lead with another volley seven minutes into the break, and Pep Guardiola's team resisted late pressure to win the trophy for the seventh time.
