The new modification is only presented in one country so far, but later the stretched SUV will become global.
World premiere Suzuki Jimny five-door all-terrain vehicle (such a body is, in principle, a novelty for a production model) took place in January of this year. India was chosen as the debut site, because only there the production of an elongated version was launched — Maruti Suzuki (a subsidiary of the Japanese company) is responsible for the release. This country also became the first market for the novelty: pre-orders began to be accepted immediately after the presentation (at the moment there are already more than 30,000 of them), but the price list has only been published now.
Note that since 2020, the Indian company has also been making a three-door Jimny, but exclusively for export. So the model of the current generation enters the local market for the first time, albeit only in a stretched form. Well, let’s add that in India, the SUV is sold through a separate Nexa dealer network, which presents “premium” Maruti Suzuki models: these also include the Grand Vitara, Fronx, S-Cross/SX4 and Ignis SUVs, the XL6 crossover, the Baleno hatchback and the sedan Ciaz.

The length of the five-door Jimny is 3985 mm compared to 3654 mm for the three-door model, the wheelbase is increased by the same 340 mm to 2590 mm. Ground clearance — standard and for the global «three-door» 210 mm. The trunk volume of the new modification is 208 liters, with the second row folded down, this figure will increase to 332 liters. At the same time, only two people can still be accommodated more or less comfortably in the gallery.

The engine was transferred from a short SUV — it is a KB15 1.5 gasoline «aspirated», but it is supplemented with a starter-generator. Recoil — 105 hp and 134 Nm, the motor is combined with a five-speed «mechanics» or a four-speed «automatic». The Suzuki Jimny has hard-wired 4WD and a low gear.
The five-door all-terrain vehicle is offered to the Indians in two trim levels. The equipment list of the basic Zeta version includes: 15-inch wheels, six airbags, ESP, a multimedia system with a 7-inch screen, a rear-view camera, air conditioning. In the Alpha performance, diode optics, a 9-inch multimedia display, climate control, an engine start button and cruise control appear. For an additional fee, a lot of accessories are provided (various body pads, camping equipment, etc.). The price of a five-door Suzuki Jimny ranges from 1,274,000 to 1,505,000 rupees, which is equivalent to about 1,255,000 — 1,483,000 rubles at the current exchange rate. In India, Jimny has two competitors, and both are still available only in a three-door body: the Mahindra Thar SUV costs from 1,054,500 rupees (about 1,039,000 rubles), and the Force Gurkha will cost at least 1,510,000 rupees (1,487,000 rubles).
An Indian-made 5-door Jimny will go global, but export markets have yet to be announced.
