Mercedes-Benz is preparing the concept of the “reimagined icon” C111: the first teasers

The German company has not yet revealed when the show car will be presented, which will obviously get a retro design.

Many automakers are proud of their storied past. So, last summer, the Hyundai brand demonstrated the N Vision 74 show car, which was designed in the style of the 1974 Pony Coupe concept, which was developed by the famous Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. Now Mercedes-Benz plans to follow a similar path: the German manufacturer has announced the C111 concept.

Mercedes has published several teasers of the future show car on its social media accounts. The company calls the novelty a “reimagined icon”; in fact, it will be a modern take on the C111 concept: the original debuted back in 1969 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. That show car had a large front overhang and a “modest” rear overhang. The model received gull-wing doors, a sloping hood, a pointed front end, lifting lights, a large air intake and a large three-pointed star logo.

In the following decade, the German brand introduced several versions of this show car with a gradually evolving design. The latest at that time was the concept sports car Mercedes-Benz C111-IV, which was released in a single copy in 1979. jpg” />On the photo: Mercedes-Benz C111-II (released in 1970)

Now the company is preparing a new version of the “rethinking” of the original C111. Judging by the teasers, the model will be decorated in a retro style. They show that the rear of the car will receive a large oval digital display (probably the entire width of the stern). Note that visually this element resembles the stern of the concepts of the 70s. Still visible are the circular taillights made of pixels, which are a nod to the classic C111-II show car (introduced in 1970).

There are no details about the “stuffing” of the new Mercedes-Benz C111 concept yet. It can be assumed that the “rethought” modern show car will have completely electric technology. Recall that the brand now has its own “green” EQ family, and some models have “charged” versions prepared by the Mercedes-AMG division. What will be the indicators of new items is not yet clear; it is worth recalling that the 1979 concept with a V8 biturbo engine could accelerate to 402 km/h. : showroom Mercedes-Benz C111-II

Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz continues to develop its line of light commercial vehicles. So, in the middle of last month, Kolesa.ru reported that the company announced the Van.EA platform, a new electric “cart”, which, according to the plan, will debut in 2026. It is known that the basic versions of the “green” vans will have front-wheel drive, and for an extra charge they will offer a twin-engine power plant. of the future refreshed van caught in the lenses of photo spies during road tests.
