The model was not developed from scratch: the Chinese SUV FAW Bestune T77, already available in Russia, received the Lada emblem. The technique, obviously, also moved from the original cross.
The crossover Lada X-Cross 5 was presented to dealers in the spring, but now AvtoVAZ arranged the first public demonstration of its new product: it was held as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) that opened today, June 14. The assembly of this model will be arranged at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg (AvtoVAZ closed the deal on the acquisition of the enterprise in February). Note that there was no official press release from the manufacturer at the time of publication of the news, that is, a full-fledged premiere of the SUV is yet to come.

Cross Lada is a badge-engineering “Chinese” FAW Bestune T77. The last one reached the Russian Federation at the end of 2021. And in December 2022, the T77 survived restyling, but such an SUV is still sold only in its native China, so the emblems and nameplates of the Russian brand were hung on a pre-reform SUV. By the way, the Lada X-Cross 5, which made its debut at SPIEF, has not yet managed to completely get rid of its “national identity”: the Bestune logo (FAW sub-brand) flaunts on the steering wheel.

In terms of design, the Lada crossover completely repeats the original, so the dimensions should be identical. The length of the actual Bestune T77 for the Russian Federation is 4525 mm, width – 1845 mm, height – 1615 mm, wheelbase – 2700 mm. Obviously, the equipment also passed from the donor, the only question is whether the VAZ decided to “strangle” the 1.5 petrol turbo four or still left the current 160 hp. The original T77 is available with a six-speed “mechanics” or a seven-speed dual-clutch robotic box. The drive is exclusively front.
In the arsenal of the “Chinese” (depending on the configuration) are: LED optics, virtual tidy, multimedia system with a large touchscreen, panoramic roof, all-round cameras, climate control control, adaptive cruise control. It is not yet known whether all the equipment will go to the newly-minted Lada.

Official details about the Lada X-Cross 5 crossover should appear in the near future. The FAW Bestune T77 SUV now costs 2,169,000 – 2,432,000 rubles.
Meanwhile, other FAW models may “register” at the St. Petersburg plant: according to unofficial data, under the Lada brand there can organize the assembly of the Bestune T55 crossover and the Bestune B70 liftback.
