The new Peugeot 408 hybrid cross-liftback drove on camera

This modification is equipped with an MHEV power plant, which is based on a Puretech 1.2-liter petrol turbo three, which works in tandem with 29-horsepower electric motor and a small lithium-ion battery.

The French brand introduced the Peugeot 408 global cross-liftback last June. Recall that in the current line of the brand there is another model with the same index: a little earlier in the same month, the upgraded Peugeot 408 sedan, intended only for the Chinese market, debuted. Note that the global SUV is also designed for the PRC, but there an additional letter X was added to its name.

    >As we noted earlier, in the design of the exterior of the cross-liftback, a lot was borrowed from the cars of the 308th family. The Peugeot 408 was equipped with a matrix head optics with “fangs” of running lights, rims of the original design, the size of which varies from 17 to 20 inches. There is a laconic spoiler on the tailgate, and on its upper part there are a pair of so-called “lugs”.

The interior of that model is also from the Peugeot 308, which means the presence of a 10-inch virtual “tidy” and a touchscreen of the infotainment system for the same 10 inches. A panoramic roof, a ten-speaker sound system and other options are available for an extra charge.

During the presentation, the company spoke about the engine range of the Peugeot 408. Then it was reported that the cross-liftback was equipped with a 1.2-liter Puretech gasoline turbo engine, the output of which is 130 hp. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic. There are also a couple of plug-in hybrids in the lineup, which are based on a 1.6-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 150 or 180 hp. The kit comes with an 8AKP, in which a 110-horsepower electric motor is integrated. The total return, depending on the version, is either 180 or 225 hp. Drive – only front. Such options have a battery capacity of 12.4 kWh, a range when driving on electric power alone – 60 km (according to the WLTP cycle).

Apparently, these are not all hybrids that are available in the range of the model. Now the manufacturer is testing the MHEV version on public roads, the pictures of which were shared with us by colleagues from the Spanish publication Motor.es. The car “rides” without disguise, it is distinguished by the presence of a sticker indicating the type of equipment on the windshield. p> At the heart of the power plant of such a hybrid Peugeot 408 is the same basic Puretech petrol turbo with a volume of 1.2 liters. This motor works in tandem with a 29-horsepower electric motor (55 Nm) and a modest 0.4 kWh lithium-ion battery. The pair will offer a six-speed automatic e-DCS6; On electric power alone, this cross-liftback can travel only one kilometer, while its speed cannot exceed 30 km/h. The drive is front.

It is known that the new version will enter the European market before the end of this year . Recall that later the family of the global Peugeot 408 will expand due to the completely “green” modification of the “408th”.
