The House of Commons overwhelmingly approved the Privilege Committee's finding that Boris Johnson deliberately misled the House.

This means that MPs approved the committee's findings that Mr Johnson deliberately misled parliament about the partygate scandal, and agreed to ban him from having a pass to access the parliamentary estate.

Monday's vote also confirms the committee's recommendation to remove Mr. Johnson from MP for 90 days, although he had already resigned before the report's release.

An estimated 118 Tories voted to approve the report, including a number senior staff of Rishi Sunak.

Cabinet members who voted to approve the report included Penny Mordaunt, leader of the House of Commons, Gillian Keegan, education secretary, and Alex Chalk, who replaced Dominic Raab as justice minister earlier in this Chloe Smith, Tom Tugendhat, Andrew Mitchell, David T. S. Davis, Minister for Wales, and Simon Hart, Chief Tory Whip, also supported the tough sanctions imposed by the former Prime Minister's Committee.

A significant number of MPs abstained from the vote, including many Conservatives such as Mr Sunak, and senior cabinet officials.
