The production of a cheap crossover Hyundai Exter has begun

The full presentation of the new compact cross will take place in July. However, almost everything is already known about the model.

Hyundai began to reveal the small affordable Exter SUV back in the spring. And today, on June 23, the start of production was announced: the model got on the conveyor of the Indian plant. As you might guess, it is India that will be the first and main market for the novelty, but later the machines are likely to appear in other developing countries.

The local Hyundai Grand i10 Nios hatchback was taken as the basis for the cross, although the Hyundai Exter still has an original body and its own exterior design. Of the dimensions, the height and wheelbase are named — 1631 and 2450 mm, respectively. According to the first indicator, Exter significantly surpassed the donor hatch (1520 mm), the distance between the axles of the Grand is the same. The length of the Indian hatchback Grand i10 Nios is 3815 mm, the width is 1680 mm.Inside, the SUV as a whole repeated its relative, except that the interior of the Exter is decorated in dark colors. The list of equipment includes digital instruments with a separate color screen in the middle, a multimedia system with an 8-inch touchscreen, six airbags (already “in the base”), ABS and EBD, climate control, a sunroof, a rear-view camera and a cruise -control. In addition, a full-time DVR with two cameras is provided for the SUV (the second is directed to the salon).

Hyundai Exter will be available to Indians with a petrol four-cylinder aspirated 1.2 and its gas version: the local Hyundai Grand i10 Nios also has such engines, they produce 83 and 69 hp on a hatchback. respectively. Both engines are equipped with a five-speed «mechanics», a purely gasoline one can still be paired with a robotic box. The drive is exclusively front-wheel drive.

Prices should be announced as part of the premiere, which will be held on July 10 this year . Probably, the SUV will be more expensive than the Grand i10 Nios (from 573,400 rupees or 590,000 rubles at the current exchange rate), but cheaper than another subcompact SUV of the brand — Venue (from 776,900 rupees or 800,000 rubles).
