Last week, the Japanese company first revealed its future novelty, the Century luxury crossover. Using the existing image, we decided to imagine what the car will look like.
Today, only the executive sedan of Toyota, which appeared in 1967, bears the Century name, and it was named in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Toyota founder Sakichi Toyoda. For more than 50 years of history, the model has been released in only three generations, the last of which was introduced in 2018. Now, the gamut is expected to expand with a luxury crossover that, unlike the sedan, could become a global model.
Century SUV
So far, we only have a darkened image of the side view, but some features of the novelty can already be seen. The body will be made in a classic style, echoing the Century sedan. The crossover will get similar silver lining at the bottom of the bumpers (probably on the thresholds) and round wheel arches. The front part is almost invisible, but we can assume that a large chrome grille and simple-shaped headlights will appear here. Century SUV will get a long wheelbase, as hinted at by a very wide tailgate. The rear pillars are made massive, evoking associations with another luxurious crossover — Rolls-Royce Cullinan. The lights are not yet visible either, the render shows a variant with rear optics in the style of a sedan.

According to preliminary information, the new Century SUV will be built on the GA-K platform, which is already use the recently introduced large crossovers Toyota Grand Highlander and Lexus TX. Nothing is known about the engines yet, but the Century sedan is equipped with a Toyota Hybrid System II hybrid installation, which includes a V8 5.0 (2UR-FSE) gasoline engine with a power of 381 hp. (510 Nm), 224-horsepower electric motor (300 Nm), electromechanical variator and nickel-metal hydride traction battery. The total output of the system is 431 hp, the drive is exclusively rear.

The premiere of the novelty is expected within this year.
Meanwhile, the new generation Alphard and Vellfire minivans were officially unveiled a few days ago.
