Skoda continues to stir up interest in second-generation Kodiaq crossover, which is scheduled to premiere in the fall: new photos of a disguised test prototype have been published, in addition, the main characteristics are revealed. Recall that the “first” SUV debuted in 2016, it survived restyling in 2021.
Skoda Kodiaq has remained a relative of the Volkswagen Tiguan (“German” will also soon move into a new generation) – the modified MQB bogie with the Evo prefix is at the heart of the SUVs. The length of the model of the Czech brand has been increased by 61 mm to 4758 mm, but the width and height, on the contrary, have been cut: now 1864 and 1657 mm, respectively (18 and 4 mm less than its predecessor). The wheelbase has not changed – 2791 mm.

We are not talking about a radical change in the image – it is rather an evolution of the current exterior design of Skoda. For example, Kodiak even left additional sections under the headlights. However, the optics itself is still different – the models are promised matrix headlights of a new generation. Decreased drag coefficient from 0.318 to 0.292 announced. The SUV is equipped with wheels with a diameter of 17 to 20 inches.
As before, the Skoda Kodiaq will be offered with a five- or seven-seat interior. There are no separate photos of the interior yet, but the available pictures also show that the screen of the multimedia system (12.9 inches) now rises above the front panel, and is not built into it. By the way, the Chinese Kodiak had a “floating” tablet last year. In addition, Skoda reported that the three-row SUV has a higher roof over the gallery (+15 mm). The boot volume of the five-seater SUV has increased from 835 to 910 liters, the seven-seater – from 270 to 340 liters (behind the third row; with the third row folded down – from 765 to 845 liters).

The crossover has lost the usual box selector, instead of it – the steering column lever (“mechanics” are no more). And on the central tunnel they placed a cooled platform for wireless charging of two smartphones at once. The list of equipment also includes a virtual tidy, a head-up display, adaptive cruise control and a car park. In addition, the Kodiak has an improved DCC adaptive suspension.
The crossover was left with petrol and diesel engines, while the model for the first time gained a rechargeable hybrid version of the iV. In total, the new Skoda Kodiaq has five modifications. “Traditional” cars are equipped with a 2.0 TDI turbodiesel (150 or 193 hp) or a 2.0 TSI petrol turbo four (204 hp), followed by a mild hybrid cross with a 1.5 TSI petrol (150 hp) and a 48-volt starter -generator. These options are equipped with a seven-speed DSG gearbox. And the Kodiaq iV rechargeable hybrid received the same 1.5 TSI, plus an electric motor, a 25.7 kWh battery and 6DSG. The total output of such a SUV is 204 hp, it can travel more than 100 km only on electric traction. Cars with 193 PS 2.0 TDI and 204 PS 2.0 TSI are all-wheel drive, the rest are front-wheel drive. />
According to preliminary data, the “second” Skoda Kodiaq will go on sale early next year. In Russia, if a new crossover appears, it will only be through a parallel import scheme.
Meanwhile, another global premiere is planned for Skoda in the fall: the new generation Superb family is preparing for its debut.
