Jetour in Russia: crossovers and a brutal SUV on the way

There are already two new models on sale, two more new models are expected in 2024.

The official Russian presentation of the Chinese brand Jetour, founded in 2018 and having sold 700,000 cars since then, took place in Moscow. The brand, owned by the Chery concern, positions itself as a manufacturer of vehicles for outdoor activities and travel, and in accordance with the Travel+ strategy, develops three product lines.

The first — family travel — is represented by models of the X series with an emphasis on ergonomics and comfort. This category is played by the front-wheel drive five-seat crossover Jetour X90Plus, which we already talked about. A car that technically copies Chery Tiggo 8 can be bought at a price of 3,249,900 rubles.

In the pluses of a large family crossover, the manufacturer attributes a spacious interior, a roomy trunk and improved sound insulation. In terms of trim and panel fit, everything is fine here, the design of the front panel is also pleasant, there is a lot of space in the second row. Under the hood of the X90Plus is one of the TGDI series gasoline engines: 1.6-liter (190 hp, 275 Nm) or 2-liter with 244 hp. and with a torque of 375 Nm. Both powertrains are combined with a 7-speed 7DCT wet robot with two clutches.

Another model already available for purchase illustrates the second direction of the concept — urban travel. The front-wheel drive Jetour Dashing (from 2,339,900 rubles) is, in fact, a clone of Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, we have already managed to test in China. The car clearly aims at a young audience with a bright design and minimalist interior design, although the quality of the finish is simpler in comparison with the «nineties», and the instrument panel is a set of liquid crystal displays.

The Dashing is powered by either a 1.5-liter engine with 147 hp. paired with a 6-speed manual or 6DCT robot, or the same 1.6-liter TGDI engine (190 hp) paired with a 7DCT.

The fourth model to sit between the Dashing and the X90Plus is also the X70Plus front-wheel drive crossover — will be available in the first half of 2024.

Finally, the third product line is off-road vehicles, which Jetour designates as T (SUVs) and P (pickup trucks). At the beginning of 2024, the T-2 SUV, also known under the name Traveler, will be brought to Russia. Despite the brutal appearance, the T2 has a load-bearing body, but all-wheel drive, solid ground clearance, large exit-entry angles and the ability to install off-road accessories will surely find fans.

Despite the family relationship with Chery, the Jetour brand intends to pursue an independent marketing and pricing policy. Today, the Russian Jetour network includes 74 dealerships, but the plans are Napoleonic. By the end of the year, the number of dealers will be increased to one hundred, and five round-the-clock spare parts warehouses will be launched in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Togliatti, Novosibirsk and the Urals Federal District. In addition, Jetour will open a training certification center to improve the skills of technical specialists in Moscow. In 2024, Jetour plans to sell 15,000 vehicles from us.
