The Conservative Party will be seen as «giving up on London» if it does not restart the selection process for its mayoral candidate after the departure of Daniel Korski, one of his rivals said.

Samuel Kasumu, who missed out on the final three Conservative candidates running for next year's election, said the candidates were chosen «without any real transparency.»

In a letter to Greg Hands, chairman of the Conservative Party, he said the selection process was in danger of becoming «permanently tarnished.» » if London members were given a choice of only two candidates in next week's vote.

According to party procedure, members must now choose between Susan Hall, a member of the London Assembly, and Mozammel Hossain, a lawyer, never held an elected position.

Mr Kasumu, a former Downing Street racing adviser, was expelled from the final three along with several other contenders by the board of selectors earlier this month.

Now the process has become the subject of a bitter row between Conservative Headquarters campaigners and previous candidates who say they deserve another rejection after Mr. Korsky stepped down.

Daisy Goodwin, a television producer, has publicly accused Mr. Korsky of sexually assaulting her at a meeting in Downing Street. a decade ago.

Mr. Korsky denies any allegations of inappropriate behavior, but pulled out of the Conservative nomination race after Ms. Goodwin accused him of groping her breasts.

In a statement, he said: «The pressure on my family over this false and unsubstantiated allegation and the failure to get a hearing on my London Dream message makes it impossible for me to continue my campaign.»

Mr Kasumu's letter contains call for «democratic reform» of the Conservative candidate selection process.

It warns: «The Conservative Party cannot be seen as abandoning London. To anyone who shares my past, and to every young person who seeks a voice in the public sphere, my experience sends the message that we just don't care.”

Andrew echoed his call. Boff, another candidate who did not make it into the top three.

He said: «The Tory Party should be proud to be more democratic in the selection process than Labor.»
