Volkswagen introduced the T-Roc crossover in 2017, and a couple of years later the family expanded due to the “charged” version with an addition in the form of the letter R to the name, as well as a two-door modification open top. The SUV survived the restyling in the fall of 2021: then its appearance was corrected, the interior was updated, but they did not touch the equipment. Now the company is developing a new generation VW T-Roc.

Now the German manufacturer is conducting a series of road tests of the future novelty: according to Motor.es, so far we are talking about a test mule. So, on public roads in southern Europe, photo spies caught a test mule created on the basis of a Volkswagen Golf, Spanish colleagues shared pictures with us. At the same time, its body has a number of obvious modifications, for example, massive plastic lining on the wheel arches.

Of course, it is still difficult to talk about the design of the next generation SUV: the test mule cannot give any answers to the relevant questions. It is worth noting that the current crossover is available in Europe with traditional gasoline and diesel engines, but the new generation T-Roc will have a different “stuffing”. According to the publication, the model will be equipped with mild-hybrid power plants, which will be based on gasoline and diesel engines, working in tandem with a 48-volt electric suspension. A plug-in hybrid is also possible.
Information on whether or not it will be available after the change generation of all modifications of the model, not yet. It is possible that the Volkswagen T-Roc R or the open-top variant of the T-Roc Cabrio will not make it to the new generation. VW will likely judge by the demand for these versions when it makes its decision.
Recently it has been reported that Volkswagen has temporarily shut down several factories due to weak demand. So, it was decided to extend the summer vacation by part of the employees of the enterprise in Emden (Germany), which, among other things, is engaged in the production of the ID.4 electric crossover and is preparing for mass production of the “green” ID.7 liftback. Three factories in Brazil are also suspended, Polo, Polo Track, Virtus, Nivus, Saveiro and T-Cross roll off the assembly lines here.
