The Wolves are willing to offer over £20m for Bristol City teenager Alex Scott

The Wolves are offering more than £20m for Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott as Julen Lopetegui does everything he can to secure the highly rated England under-20 international.

Scott It's a top target for Lopetegui this summer and Wolves are poised to make a second improved offer that comes closer to the club's strict £25million valuation. this month, but a new offer is just around the corner for one of English football's brightest young talents, who has been named the Championship's Young Player of the Season.

Wolves head coach Lopetegui fully supports Scott and believes that a teenager could have a significant impact on the Premier League.

Scott had previously been on Wolves' radar prior to Lopetegui's appointment in November, but the Basque manager was known to be very impressed with his potential after taking a closer look.

However, Wolves face some serious competition, as Bournemouth already received the rejected bid last week.

West Ham are also monitoring Scott's situation while other clubs may be involved as well, but the prospect of playing regularly for the first team in the top flight could be a major factor in a move to Wolves.

Lopetegui has made over £80m in player sales this summer with the likes of Ruben Neves, Nathan Collins and Conor Coady leaving, and is working on a tight budget.

Still needing to put in extra money, to eradicate any fears of future penalties for breaches of Financial Fair Play rules following the club's mammoth spending last season.

Players such as Raul Jimenez, Daniel Podens and Johnny Castro Otto could step aside this summer if acceptable offers are received.

However, the drive to sign Scott has the full backing of Wolves owners Fosun , with a second bid expected to be made within the next 48 hours.

Bristol City are taking it easy and pushing for a record sale approaching the £22m received from Brighton for centre-back Adam Webster in August 2019.

Nigel Pearson, city officials have also made it clear that £25m is the absolute minimum amount the club must accept as they play a key role in the development of the 19-year-old.

Wolves will start their Premier League season away at Manchester United on 14 August.
