It sounds incredible, but Saab is trying to revive again – this time not literally, the name will be different, but many Saab fans are still happy.
NEVS (National Electric Vehicle Sweden), which owns the assets of the Saab car company that went bankrupt in 2012, stopped working in early spring of this year, fired almost all employees and entered the so-called hibernation mode, or, in other words, was frozen. We talked in detail about the reasons for this freeze of NEVS in a separate note, here we only briefly recall that since 2019 the Swedish company has been owned by the Chinese holding company Evergrande Group, which is now experiencing a severe debt crisis and is trying to find an acceptable restructuring format under the control of the Chinese authorities.
After the NEVS freeze, the Swedish advertising agency Plint Marketing, with which the car company collaborated, posted on YouTube a series of videos filmed in 2020, in which NEVS engineers and designers talk about working on a new model called the Emily GT. Renders of the NEVS Emily GT have also been posted by former NEVS Chief Exterior Designer Hirash Razagi. Some European media outlets were even allowed to ride a prototype of the new model.
It turns out that the hype around the NEVS Emily GT in social networks and the press was needed to attract attention to this project: its developers hoped that there would be an investor who would buy the NEVS Emily GT with all the “offal” and bring it to mass production. A couple of days ago, the editor-in-chief of the Swedish version of the German magazine auto motor & sport has released a sensational note in which it claims that such an investor has been found and that a deal between him and NEVS will be officially announced before the end of the summer.
The name of the buyer was not disclosed – it is only known that this is a certain European company. Under what brand and when exactly the Emily GT will go into the series is also still unknown. The assembly site is a former Saab factory in Trollhättan, Sweden, which has been idle for more than a decade (it will probably have to be modernized). It is curious that the Swedish company Polestar (belongs to the Chinese Geely holding) in the spring, it is curious, it wants to organize the center for the development of power plants in them.

Work on the Nevs Emily GT project began in 2019 with the supply of Evergrande Group, it was found out as a family of premium electric vehicles lei with different bodies – sedan, station wagon, compartment, convertible. NEVS Emily GT was planned to be equipped with wheel motors manufactured by Protean Electric, a British company also acquired by Evergrande Group in 2019. The coolest versions of the NEVS Emily GT had to have a combined power of about 650 hp. and a battery with a capacity of 175 kWh, a full charge of which would be enough for 1000 km of run. The pillars of the body quote the latest Saab models, that is, the developers sincerely tried to preserve the spirit of the legendary brand, even under the faceless abbreviation NEVS. Let's hope that the new brand will be more interesting and successful.
