Ms. Chutkan denied a request by Trump's legal team to extend the response time.< /p>
She is expected to announce the date of Mr. Trump's election trial at the Aug. 28 hearing.
Quick Trial

Norm Eisen, a seasoned Washington lawyer, previously told CNN: «Judge Chutkan knows how to move a case quickly. «. the case will go to court before the 2024 general election.»
John Lauro, Mr. Trump's lawyer, said he would seek a change in the venue of the trial after polling and analyzing «how people react to indictment.”

Mr. Trump proposed moving the lawsuit to West Virginia, a state in which he won by nearly 30 points in 2020.
< p >However, federal judges have repeatedly denied defendants' Jan. 6 motions to move their cases out of Washington.
It is unclear on what basis Mr. Trump would require Ms. Chutkan's replacement, which usually requires a clear conflict of interest.< /p>
