Luxury crossover Toyota Century SUV: new images

The official premiere of the new Toyota crossover will take place very soon, and a few hours ago the Japanese company published another teaser thanks to which we have the opportunity to get an idea of ​​how the novelty will look like.

To date, the Century model exists only in the form of a sedan, the history of which began in 1967. It was named in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Toyota founder Sakichi Toyoda. For more than 50 years of history, the model has been released in only three generations, the last of which was introduced in 2018. The Century family will soon be expanded with a crossover that could become a global model.

We've done renderings of the crossover in the past, but now we have a couple of fresh teasers at our disposal, which show some of the design features of the front and rear. The novelty will receive the headlights original for the company, consisting of a pair of narrow blocks in each with J-shaped LED running lights. Such a decision immediately evokes associations with the new Genesis models. The rear lighting equipment with the same dimensions pattern will be solved in a similar way. Another unusual element is the dark grille with hexagonal mesh filling and the Century emblem in the form of a phoenix. As for the sidewalls, here one can note a narrow curved stamping, located just above the door handles and going from headlights to lanterns. Like a sedan, round wheel arches and contrasting light lining on the lower part of the body around the perimeter will appear here.

According to unconfirmed reports, the future SUV of the Century family is based on the GA-K platform, which is also used by the large Toyota Grand Highlander and Lexus TX crossovers. It is assumed that the novelty will be equipped with a hybrid installation. Note that the Grand Highlander is based on a 2.4-liter gasoline turbo engine, working in tandem with an electric motor and a six-speed automatic. The total output of the system is 367 hp. and 542 Nm of torque. As for the dimensions of the model, the length can be about 5.2 meters, the wheelbase is about three meters (for comparison, the indicators of the platform Grand Highlander are 5116 and 2946 mm, respectively).

The premiere of the new Century SUV will take place tomorrow, September 6.
