It was a staple of '90s wedding discos and pop compilations, but «Mambo No. 5» almost got Stephen King divorced, according to the horror writer.

The Shining and Carrie writer said he likes to listen to music when he writes.

“When I write, there are things I can listen to a lot. And it's mostly techno or disco, but especially techno, there's the LCD Soundsystem band and I love it.

“Fat Boy Slim is someone else. I can just listen to it. If you tried to write and listen to Leonard Cohen, how the hell would you do it? Because you have to listen to the words and what he says. But with some techno elements or KC and the Sunshine Band, Gloria Gaynor, all is well.”

Mambo No 5 was originally released in 1949 by Cuban musician Damaso Pérez Prado as a purely instrumental track. . It achieved worldwide success when it was re-released with lyrics by Begi.
