The 22-year-old the bowler stood out from the rest. fellow debutants Mahika Gaur and Maya Bouchier took three wickets to claim a comfortable win.
«I'm just taking it in stride, it's all happened quite quickly this year and I didn't expect it to happen this year at all,» said Filer, who last played for England in the Ashes Test against Australia in June. “I'm just grateful for every moment I get on the field, and if I have to sit on the bench for a series, I don't mind that at all, it means I'm part of the team.”
“We have a great group of players so sometimes you have to sit on the bench but you just have to do your part for the team.”
All three England debutants made their mark as the hosts dominated in the first 50-over match, which came just two days after they lost the T20 series match.
Gaur, like Filer, also took three wickets, as did Sarah Glenn and Alice Capsey took another, since all the guests posted 106 points.
Tammy Beaumont and Emma Lamb put on an opening partnership of 61 on their return to the ODI line-up before Bouchier hit the match-winning run with a mammoth 32 overs remaining.
Reflecting on the game, Filer said: “It was really good. I guess I wasn't feeling my best, you have days like that and you just have to get through it. It was great to take a few wickets and nice to get the win at the end.
“Majica obviously played very, very well; she has the skill and hit early in the innings, then she came back and struck out a beauty to put them all out of the game. Then Bouchier was great at the end. It's good for all three of us to contribute.»
Fieler took her first ODI wicket when Hasini Perera bowled to Amy Jones behind the stumps and then took two wickets in the 20th over. above. Kavisha Dilhari was caught behind and Jones caught the ball beautifully to her right before Filer similarly released Nilakshi de Silva on the next ball.
“The third ball was probably my favorite, just because you don't expect to get one right after you get another one,” Filer said.
