Instead of Mazda cars, Chinese JAC trucks are now made in the Far East under the Russian brand. The model that has changed its brand will go on sale in October.
The Russian company Sollers has been cooperating with the “celestial” concern JAC since last year, when the plant in Yelabuga started production of commercial vehicles Sollers Atlant and Sollers Argo, that is, JAC Sunray and JAC N25/N35 with other emblems and nameplates. And now the range of the domestic brand has been expanded: the company located in Vladivostok, which previously made Mazdas, has begun serial assembly of the Sollers ST6 frame pickup truck. And this truck is already familiar to us — the JAC T6, presented in the Russian Federation since 2019, received a new name. By the way, the Far Eastern site is now called “Automotive Industrial Technologies” (previously it was called Mazda-Sollers).

As reported by the Sollers press service, the ST6 production organization project provides for “gradual localization” — in particular, “through the installation of engines and gearboxes” that the Russian company will produce at its enterprises in the European part of the country. In addition, the use of domestic electronics is named as a priority area for localization. It was also announced that next year another model will be put on the assembly line of the Automotive Industrial Technologies plant, but which one has not yet been disclosed.

As for the pickup truck, the Sollers ST6 is practically no different from the Chinese donor outside and inside, except that the Russian-assembled truck has less chrome decor. Dimensions of the cargo area: 1520/1520/470 mm. In our market, the ST6 will be available with a 2.0 petrol turbo engine and a diesel engine of the same volume. The output of the first engine is 176 hp. and 290 Nm, the second produces 136 hp. and 320 Nm. Both engines are equipped exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission; the pickup has an all-wheel drive transmission with a reduction gear. The carrying capacity of the petrol version is 820 kg, diesel – 900 kg.

At the moment, two trim levels are announced for Sollers ST6 — Base and Comfort. The list of standard equipment includes a pair of airbags, ESC, air conditioning, audio system, heated front seats, rear parking sensors, cruise control. The Comfort version also includes a “leather” interior, a keyless entry system and an engine start button, a multimedia system with a touch screen, and a rear view camera.
The start of sales of the truck is scheduled for October. The price of a Sollers ST6 with a gasoline engine starts at 2.4 million rubles, a pickup truck with a diesel engine costs from 2.5 million rubles. At the same time, a direct discount of 150,000 rubles is provided for residents of the Far East.

Meanwhile, the JAC T6 pickup truck is still present on the Russian website of the Chinese brand, and the price now is only for the rich Full Extra version (analogous to Comfort) — from 2.9 million rubles. Apparently, the T6 will soon be removed from the local Jak line, but it already has a replacement: the JAC T8 Pro truck (from 3,170,000 rubles).
