John Terry is part of a group exploring the prospect of buying a stake in Chelsea, with co-controlling owner Todd Boehly open to new investment.

Former Chelsea captain Terry and his partners are considering the possibility of concluding a deal. an offer for a 10 per cent stake that would include fan investment through online technology platform PrimaryBid, whose co-founder and CEO Anand Sambasivan is a season ticket holder at Stamford Bridge.

Terry's group is one of many potential investors to Chelsea, some of whom were interested in Manchester United, although it remains to be seen whether they can raise enough money.

This is not the first time Terry has considered investing in Chelsea, as he was part of the True Blue consortium during the bidding that saw Boehly and Clearlake Capital buy the club from Roman Abramovich for £2.5 billion plus 1. £75 billion. in additional obligations. Clearlake owns just over 60 percent of the club's shares, with the remaining capital divided between Boeli, Hansjörg Wyss and Mark Walter.

It is unclear where the proposed 10 percent stake will come from or whether Boehli would be willing to reduce his capital to make way for Terry or a new investor.

Although Terry's consortium did not become part of the new ownership, it, along with at least another member of the original group remains interested in buying a stake in Chelsea. There was also interest from a number of other firms and individuals, including the American company Ares Management, which previously made an investment offer to Manchester United.

It is believed that Boehli would support an equity investment, with sources under the impression that a 10 per cent stake in the club is available to pursue major growth prospects such as the new stadium project, Cobham redevelopment plans and the expansion of their multi-club model.

< p>Terry is still working with tech businessman Harley Kisberg, who was part of the original True Blue group, on a potential bid for a stake in Chelsea, which would require fan investment through PrimaryBid.

Registered with the Financial Conduct Authority. PrimaryBid is described as an online investment platform designed to help a large number of investors buy shares in companies.

When Telegraph Sport approached the 42-year-old's representatives about Terry's interest in buying a stake in Chelsea, they chose not to comment .

Investing in Chelsea could be timely for Boehli and Clearlake

Boeli hosted Terry in his box during Chelsea's win over Luton Town at Stamford Bridge last month, but it is understood this was not related to investment talks and the pair only exchanged pleasantries on the evening.

< p>As well as exploring the possibility of investing in Chelsea, Terry held talks with one of the presidential candidates in the Saudi Arabian club Al Shabab about a role in the UK, which would allow him to help recruit players. These negotiations have not yet progressed.

Terry works with the Chelsea academy and has also gone on a solo tour to talk about his career with the Blues, Aston Villa and England, and answer questions from fans. One date already done, three to go.

The former defender said last week that all proceeds from his An Evening with John Terry tour, which charges fans £100 for an autograph, were going to » John Terry 26 Foundation» to support a number of different charitable organizations.

This claim, made in the form of a video on social media, and the fact that money has already been raised for a fund in Terry's name, is being examined by the Charity Commission as the John Terry 26 Fund has not been registered with the regulator and no such claim has been considered . not yet done.

Sources close to Terry insist the application is being worked on with a view to getting the John Terry 26 Foundation registered with the Charity Commission, whose assessment has been completed whether it has a regulatory role , by the end of the year. .

The interest in investing in Chelsea could be timely for Boehly and Clearlake, as the club looks to get the green light to take a major step forward in its plans for new stadiums, and the Blues are exploring collaborations with several clubs in Portugal.

Chelsea has struck an £80m deal to buy the Stoll housing development near Stamford Bridge, with a nine-week resident consultation period set to expire on Wednesday.

This means Chelsea could get the go-ahead for purchase of land within the next month and bolster the hopes of those fans who want the club to remain at the redeveloped Stamford Bridge stadium.

The purchase of Stoll's land will give Boehly and Clearlake more opportunities to redevelop Stamford Bridge on its current location, although the possibility of a move to a new site, which would require approval from Chelsea's ground owners body, has not yet been ruled out as the club is still carefully assessing both options.
