The official presentation of the next crossover and flagship passenger car of the Czech brand will take place in the fall: the “second” Kodiaq will debut before the end of this month, and the liftback and The fourth generation station wagon will be presented in November.
Skoda continues to stir up the interest of brand fans in its future new products: the second generation Kodiaq and the fourth generation Superb. There is very little time left before the premiere of these models; now both projects are in their final stages. Over the past few months, the Czech manufacturer has repeatedly published photographs and videos of camouflaged prototypes undergoing road tests.
Now Skoda has officially announced that future new products have successfully completed the test cycle in extreme conditions. The brand's press service accompanied this message with another batch of pictures and a new video featuring the testing prototypes of the next generation Skoda Kodiaq and Superb.

The company said that the cars underwent a “wide range of tests in extreme conditions”: test cars were driven both in 30-degree frost beyond the Arctic Circle and in almost 50-degree heat in the Arizona desert. The developers considered that the test cycle that future new products went through “simulates 40 years of operation of cars on the road.”
Skoda also sent its test cars to tow trailers along the Großglockner road (the highest mountain in Austria). The Czech manufacturer also managed to test various charging infrastructures for versions of the future Kodiaq and Superb with plug-in hybrid units.
< p>In total, the prototypes covered over a million kilometers in two years. The journey included driving in city traffic, on highways, and on country roads. Skoda added that the average car owner travels this distance in about 40 years.

Let us remember that at the end of last month Skoda showed the interiors of the new Kodiaq and Superb. The main feature of the interior in both cases were three customizable climate control knobs, which were called Skoda Smart Dials. More models received a 10-inch virtual instrument panel, complemented by a projection screen on the windshield, as well as a separate 13-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system.
The range of the “second” Kodiaq and the “fourth” Superb includes a 2.0 TDI turbodiesel (150 and 193 hp) and a 2.0 TSI petrol turbo-four (204 hp), and The all-wheel drive Superb has a 265 hp version of this engine. The families also include a mild hybrid unit with a petrol 1.5 TSI (150 hp), complete with a 48-volt starter-generator. These options are paired with a seven-speed DSG robot.
The Kodiaq and Superb rechargeable hybrids are based on the same petrol 1.5-liter TSI, working in tandem with an electric motor, and a battery with a capacity of 25.7 kWh; aggregated with 6DSG. The total output of the installation is 204 hp, the electric range exceeds 100 km (according to the WLTP cycle).
