For now, the unnamed electric car of the Japanese brand will be presented as a concept, and the production version will have to wait until 2026.
< p>The Lexus brand, owned by the Japanese corporation Toyota, today announced another new product, although there are few details about it yet. It is known that this will be an electric car, which will debut as a show car at the Japan Mobility Show, which will be held in Tokyo from October 26 to November 5. The company added that production of the serial version of the model, which will be based on the next concept, will be launched in three years.

The name of the future new product, even the upcoming show car, is kept secret by Lexus for now. The manufacturer promised the model a “fundamentally changed production method,” and the electric car itself will have a “revolutionary modular body design” and completely redesigned software. At the same time, the company noted that the design of the “green” car will correspond to the style and needs of Lexus.

Probably, the silhouette of the new product will be streamlined for the sake of aerodynamics, and the interior trim (again, in keeping with modern trends) will be made of environmentally friendly materials. The company's developers are actively working on reducing the weight of the electric car, which should have a positive impact on the performance and dynamic performance of the future Lexus model.

It is expected that the new product will be equipped with a number of recent Lexus developments. Thus, the future electric car will likely receive a Direct4 all-wheel drive system, as well as “by-wire” steering: we recall that the production Lexus RZ crossover, presented last spring, has a similar One Motion Grip system available for an additional fee (this option is also available on the Toyota electric SUV bZ4X).

The basis of the new “electric train” of the Japanese brand, apparently, will be some new modular platform. There are no details about her yet. Probably, future electric cars of Toyota and Lexus of the so-called new generation will be able to be based on this “trolley” in the future. There is no official information about the technology of the electric car yet, it is only obvious that its installation will consist of at least two motors.

Most likely, the unnamed Lexus model will partially share the “filling” with future production new Toyota products (the company recently spoke in more detail about the next generation of traction lithium-ion batteries). The new battery will debut on production vehicles in 2026. It assumes a maximum range of up to 800 km without recharging, and it will take 20 minutes to charge from 10 to 80%. The Japanese explained that the production of such batteries will cost 20% less than the cost of producing current battery packs.
According to Toyota's plan, a lithium-ion battery will appear in 2027-2028, providing a maximum range of over 1000 km. At the same time, costs for the production of such traction batteries will be reduced by another 10%. At the same time, the company is expecting the release of a solid-state battery that can charge from 10 to 80% in just 10 minutes. Initially, the maximum range will be 1200 km, then it is planned to raise this bar to 1500 km.

Lexus previously announced plans to switch to the development and production of only electric vehicles by 2035. In the current line of the brand there is only one electric car – the already mentioned RZ SUV. In the future, other “green” models of the brand will appear, they may be based on the concepts presented last year: the list of show cars included a sports car, a large SUV, as well as low-slung models in sedan, hatchback and convertible bodies.
