The GAC range has been replenished with the Trumpchi E8 minivan with a transformable interior

The new MPV will be offered as a rechargeable hybrid. The model will hit the home market before the end of this year.

The GAC range has long included “simple” HEV hybrids and full-fledged electric vehicles. And this year the company decided to also develop the segment of rechargeable PHEV hybrids — the so-called E-series was created for them. The first-born was the Trumpchi E9 minivan (the Trumpchi brand is used only in the homeland), it is made on the basis of the second generation M8 (the predecessor in the Russian Federation is called GAC GN8). Then they presented the ES9 cross, that is, the modernized Trumpchi GS8. Well, today in China they held a presentation of the third model — this is again a minivan, it was assigned the E8 index. “Live” photographs of the “eight” were shared by the Chinese publication Autohome.

The length of the GAC Trumpchi E8 is 4920 mm, width – 1900 mm, height – 1760 mm, wheelbase – 2930 mm. For comparison, the dimensions of the Trumpchi E9 are: 5193/1893/1823 mm, the distance between the axles is 3070 mm. The “Eight” received LED “fangs” of running lights and a luminous broken line across the entire width of the front end, under which the main headlight blocks are located. The radiator grille has “broken” plates, the rear lights are made in the form of a single plate.

Inside the E8 there is a compact virtual instrument panel (the main indicators are displayed by a head-up display) and a large tablet for the multimedia system. There is a shelf on the front panel on the passenger side, and the sliding door handles are made in the form of lamps. In addition, a wood-like finish is provided.

The minivan will be offered in a seven-seater version with separate seats in the second row. These seats have armrests and retractable footrests; in addition, the chairs can take an almost horizontal position. And the three-seater sofa located behind them can literally be turned over, then it will turn into something like a soft bench for landing on the trunk side. However, GAC did not demonstrate whether the headrests are removable.

The manufacturer has not yet spoken about the hybrid filling of the Trumpchi E8. However, earlier the model was included in the database of the Ministry of Industry of the People's Republic of China, and so, according to the documents of the certification body, the installation will include an aspirated 1.8 (133 hp), an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. But there is another version: some Chinese media write that the minivan has a 2.0 engine (140 hp). Be that as it may, the total return is still unknown, as is the battery capacity.

In the Middle Kingdom, sales of the GAC Trumpchi E8 will start before the end of this year. The van will be cheaper than the Trumpchi E9 model, for which today they are asking at least 329,800 yuan (about 4,331,000 rubles at the current exchange rate).
