The flagship four-door of the “celestial” brand has been significantly transformed on the outside, and the interior is completely new. In addition, the model acquired a hybrid installation.
In the photo of the Chinese Ministry of Industry, the Geely Preface sedan (local name — Xingrui) with a new design was revealed back in June. It was then assumed that the company was preparing a second – and radical – restyling for the model. Now the brand has distributed corporate images, at the same time announcing that the transformed four-door will not replace the current one, but will expand the range: for this new version, the index L has been assigned. Well, let us remind you that Preface/Xingrui has been in service since 2020, it is based on the platform CMA (Compact Modular Architecture), developed by the Chinese together with Volvo (Gili owns the Swedish brand). The model was updated for the first time last year.

In general, the full name of the new variant is Geely Preface L Shuangqing. The last word can be translated as Dual Engine, that is, the model is a hybrid (“simply” Preface only comes with an internal combustion engine). The brand itself has not yet spoken about the equipment, but thanks to the certification body, we know that the installation is based on a 1.5 petrol turbo-four with a power of 163 hp. We will learn all the details about the filling after the official presentation, which will take place in October. For now, let's look at the exterior and interior.

The Geely Preface L has an original “face”: the sedan received a new bumper and headlights, the radiator grille was also replaced, although it retained the vertical “wedges”. The rear bumper also became different, and the lights were made in the form of a single die. The length of the hybrid is 4825 mm, which is 40 mm longer than that of a purely gasoline sedan. The width has been increased by 11 mm to 1880 mm. The height and wheelbase are the same — 1469 and 2800 mm, respectively.
The interior was completely redesigned, it was designed in the style of other recent models of the brand (among them are the Geely Boyue L and Boyue Cool crossovers). Inside there is a new front panel, virtual instrument panel, steering wheel, door cards and central tunnel. In addition, Preface L got a multimedia system with a vertical tablet, into which climate control settings are “built-in”. There is no usual gearbox selector: apparently, transmission control is assigned to the steering column lever.

Some Chinese specialized media predict a starting price tag of 140,000 yuan for the hybrid Geely Preface L, which is equivalent to about 1,846,000 rubles at the current exchange rate. The “traditional” sedan is presented at home with petrol turbo-fours 1.5 (181 hp) and 2.0 (190 hp), which are combined with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches. The price of “just” Preface varies from 108,700 to 145,700 yuan (1,433,000 – 1,921,000 rubles).

Geely does not sell four-door cars in Russia today. Meanwhile, large sedans Dongfeng Shine Max and Chery Arrizo 8 recently entered our market, so there is still a chance for the Geely Preface to appear in the Russian Federation.
