Elon Musk visited the USA. -The border with Mexico, where he argued that levels of illegal migration are causing cities like New York to «sag.»
Stepping directly into the controversy over the scale of immigration into the United States, an issue that has left President Biden in disarray, Musk on Thursday visited Eagle Pass, Texas, where thousands of migrants have crossed the border in recent days.
The billionaire broadcast his visit live to his followers on X, previously on Twitter, and insisted he was «pro-immigrant.»
«I believe we need a greatly expanded legal immigration system and that we Anyone who is hardworking and honest and will contribute should be allowed into the country,” Mr. Musk said.
“In the same way, in addition, we should also not allow people into the country if they break the law, it makes no sense.
“I think we want to do both things — smooth out legal immigration and stop the flow of people, which is so large that it is actually leading to the collapse of social services, where even the largest city in America, New York, withstands the pressure of a huge number of illegal immigrants.”

Mr Musk, the world's richest man, vowed to visit as media reports said hundreds of migrants were trying to cross the Rio Grande River and mothers were being pushed children under barbed wire fences, using only a few sheets of cardboard to protect their bodies.
At one point in his live broadcast, Musk pointed the camera at a large group of people, believed to be migrants, sitting on the ground waiting for immigration to process paperwork.

Tesla's 52-year-old CEO was accompanied on his visit by local Congressman Tony Gonzalez, a Republican, who said, «I really appreciate Elon coming and giving an unfiltered account of what's happening at the border.»< /p>
He added: “We feel very abandoned. And there are some solutions. A big part of that is being able to share stories that no one else has heard.”
Earlier this week, Musk said he supports building a border wall, which earned him support from Donald Trump. Others asked why the SpaceX founder would become involved in such a hot-button political issue.

“We really need a wall, and we need to require people to have some kind of proof to claim asylum to come in, because everyone is doing it,” Mr. Musk said. “This is a hack where you can literally Google it so you know exactly what to say!”
Eagle Pass sees up to 8,000 migrants a day, according to officials. In August, more than 232,000 migrants crossed the US-Mexico border.

Although the number of migrants fell after the government said it would deport those who did not make an appointment with a US official, their numbers have risen sharply. Many of the arrivals have fled Venezuela in recent weeks.
Trump and other Republicans have sought to make the southern border issue a centerpiece of their campaign for the GOP presidential nomination.
