The premiere of a new generation of the popular Czech crossover will take place very soon, but for now, using the available teasers, we decided to get the most complete picture of appearance of the car.
Kodiaq of the first and only generation so far was first presented in the fall of 2016. It became the production version of the VisionS concept demonstrated at the Geneva Motor Show in the spring of the same year, as well as the brand’s first full-fledged crossover. In April 2021, the premiere of the restyled version took placeSUV, and in a few days it will be replaced by a completely new model. This week, Skoda distributed official sketches of the future new product, in which you can see all the main features of its appearance.

The second generation Kodiaq will receive an almost vertical polygonal radiator grille, while retaining one of the main features of the first generation model — “two-story” optics, the elements of which will slightly change their shape. The teasers also show a front bumper with a wide air intake at the bottom and vertical decorative inserts along the edges. From the side, attention is drawn to the curved stamping at the bottom of the doors, as well as the contrasting trim on the rear pillars, which, judging by the sketches, can be black or silver. The most noticeable change in the rear view will be the original C-shaped optics with a bridge at the bottom, not typical for other models of the company.

The new Kodiaq will be built on a modified MQB Evo platform, which is also used by the recently introduced third generation Volkswagen Tiguan. The length of the model has been increased by 61 mm to 4758 mm, but the width and height have decreased slightly: 1864 and 1657 mm, respectively (18 and 4 mm less compared to its predecessor). The wheelbase has not changed and is 2791 mm. The crossover will be offered with petrol (2.0 TSI with 204 hp and mild hybrid 150 hp 1.5 TSI) and diesel engines (2.0 TDI with 150 or 193 hp). There will also be a plug-in hybrid Kodiaq iV for the first time, with the aforementioned 1.5 TSI paired with an electric motor, a 25.7 kWh battery and 6DSG. The total output of this SUV is 204 hp, and it can travel more than 100 km on electric power. By the way, the interior of the new Kodiaq was declassified a month ago.
