The presentation of the new generation SUV will take place very soon, on October 11. Along with it, an all-electric version of the SUV with its own name – iX2 will be presented.
The compact crossover BMW X2 debuted in the fall of 2017: we recall that it was based on the concept of the same name, which was presented a year earlier at the Paris Motor Show. Now it’s time for the model to change generation: the second-generation car is now preparing for its debut, which will take place in a couple of days. To remind you of the event, the Bavarians published a teaser of the “hot” version of the future new product – the BMW X2 M35i.
In the short video, the car is not shown in its entirety, but “in parts.” Thus, we see a recognizable radiator grille in the form of “branded” nostrils, a hood with stampings and a brand logo on the edge, black housings of traditional exterior mirrors with turn signal repeaters, black and silver alloy wheels of large diameter, behind which brake calipers with the emblem of the BMW division are visible M. The video also shows the rear with a massive spoiler on the edge of the tailgate and a pair of round exhaust pipes located on the left side of the lower part of the rear bumper.

It is expected that the BMW X2 M35i will become a coupe-shaped “brother” of the already presented BMW X1 M35i xDrive: this version debuted at the end of June this year. They will turn out to be technical twins, which means that the all-wheel drive coupe-shaped crossover will be equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder biturbo engine, the output of which will be 300 hp. in specification for the European market (in the US, probably 317 hp), and its maximum torque will be 400 Nm. It will be paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission. A “hot” SUV with a sloping roof will need 5.4 seconds to accelerate from zero to “hundreds”. Most likely, its maximum speed will be 250 km/h.

The manufacturer confirmed that the all-electric version of the cross-coupe will also be declassified during the debut of the new generation BMW X2. This crossover will receive its own name – BMW iX2, but will probably share the technology with the iX1. In this case, he will get a dual-engine power plant (one electric motor on each axis). The iX1 has a total power of 313 hp. (494 Nm), and the range on a single charge varies from 413 to 438 km (according to the WLTP cycle). Maximum speed – 180 km/h.

Most likely, the new X2 will borrow the engine range of the current X1. Let us remind you that the base for the X-First is a 1.5-liter petrol turbo engine (136 hp and 230 Nm). The lineup also includes a mild hybrid unit with a 2.0-liter turbo engine and a 48-volt starter-generator (218 hp and 360 Nm); 2.0-liter diesel (150 hp and 360 Nm); MHEV system based on a 2.0-liter 197-horsepower engine (211 hp and 400 Nm).

The BMW X1 range also includes a couple of rechargeable hybrids. One of the installations is based on a 136-horsepower engine, which comes complete with a 109-horsepower electric motor (total power – 245 hp and 477 Nm); and the second is based on a 150-horsepower engine working in tandem with a 177-horsepower electric motor (326 hp and 477 Nm).
