The world's only copy of the Boschert B300 coupe with gull-wing lifting doors will become one of the main lots at the RM Sotheby's auction in Munich, auction will take place on November 25 at Motorworld München.
The Boschert B300 is the brainchild of German car enthusiast and entrepreneur Hartmut Boschert, who wanted to create a modern reincarnation of the classic Mercedes-Benz 300 SL coupe from the 1950s and did it with the help of Italian coachbuilder Zagato. The Boschert B300 coupe debuted in 1989 at the Frankfurt Motor Show and aroused great interest among the public, but the price of 186,000 German marks was scary — it was a lot of money.

Boschert wanted to produce 300 copies of his car, but he collected orders for only a dozen, and all of them were equipped with traditional hinged doors. The exhibition version of the Gullwing with lifting doors like gull wings remained the only one, but it has safely survived to this day and is now sold on an elite market. auction RM Sotheby's.

The high price of the Boschert B300 was explained by the complexity of the project and the scale of body modifications. The factory Mercedes-Benz C124 coupe was taken as a basis, a “face” from the then-newest Mercedes-Benz SL roadster of the R129 generation was attached to it, and the sides and rear were heavily cut. The C-pillars have been moved forward 25cm for more elegant proportions, the rear overhang has been shortened and the sills have been strengthened to compensate for the loss of rigidity due to the cut-out B-pillars. The 1.66 mm long, electro-hydraulic lifting doors provide access to the first and second row seats simultaneously.

The interior is generally standard, with the classic front panel from the 124 Mercedes, but it has been completely redesigned. The front seats with integrated seat belt anchors are borrowed from the R129 generation Mercedes-Benz SL, a custom steering wheel with a Boschert emblem (reminiscent of an inverted Mercedes-Benz emblem) and several unique trim panels covering the high sills and door drive mechanisms are installed.
The engine of the Boschert B300 is a modified 3.0-liter inline six M103: it is equipped with two Garrett turbochargers and produces 283 hp, the gearbox is a 5-speed manual, the drive wheels are rear. The Boschert B300 reaches the first “hundred” in about 6 seconds, the maximum speed is 266 km/h.

The only copy of the Boschert B300 with lifting doors has changed several owners during its life; I bought it in 2005 Tino Zovko, who dreamed of this car since childhood. Tino carefully looked after the unique coupe and took short trips in it from time to time, but in the end he decided to part with it. In addition to the car itself, the lot includes a bunch of documentary materials about the creation of the Boschert B300 and original accessories. Before the sale, the owner invested more than 20,000 euros in the car for new paint and interior upholstery. The estimated price of the lot is 250,000 — 300,000 euros.
