The Chinese manufacturer plans to sell models with hybrid and all-electric powertrains under a new brand from 2024.
During the “reshaping” of the Russian automobile market, many Chinese brands have noticeably strengthened their positions. This is also true for Chery: according to Avtostat, in the first ten months of this year, the parent brand alone sold about 94.3 thousand units on the Russian market. This result is 262% more than in January-October last year. He allowed Chery to take the place of the best-selling foreign automobile brand in the country.
The Chery concern is a multi-brand concern: in the Russian market, in addition to cars under the main brand, it now also sells Exeed, Omoda, Jetour, Kaiyi and Jaecoo models. Moreover, the “celestial” manufacturer is not going to stop there, since today the press service of the local division notified that a new brand will appear in the Russian Federation next year — Chery NEV.

This abbreviation stands for New Energy Vehicle: under the new brand, Cherry Automobiles Rus JSC intends to sell cars powered by alternative energy sources. As the press service explained, we are talking about models with both hybrid and all-electric power plants. The manufacturer has not yet named specific cars that will go on sale in the Russian Federation in 2024 under a new brand.
The new Chery NEV brand will have an individual dealer network on the Russian car market, which will be created on a competitive basis. As they told Cheri's local office, at the first stage it will include about 70 partners throughout the country, for now candidates are invited to fill out an application on the project website.
The company noted that the new Chery NEV brand was headed by Dmitry Maksimov, who previously held the position of sales director for Volkswagen brand cars in the markets of Russia and Kazakhstan. It is reported that under his leadership, the German brand entered the TOP 5 foreign brands on the Russian market, and its share increased to 6.7%. By the way, according to Autostat, this year Chery’s share in the Russian market is 11.4%.

Recall that at the end of last month, hybrid versions of the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro and Tiggo 7 Pro crossovers entered the Russian market, and both plug-in hybrids are available only in one configuration — the top-end Ultimate . SUVs share one power plant: it is based on a gasoline 1.5-liter turbo-four with a power of 147 hp, working in tandem with two electric motors; its total output is 235 hp.

The recommended retail price of the Tiggo 8 Pro Plug-in Hybrid is 5,199,900 rubles, and the purchase of the Tiggo 7 Pro hybrid will cost 3,999,900 rubles.
