The official premiere of the new Shanhai line of the Chery brand Jetour took place in China, it will include electrified models, the first-born being the Shanhai L9, made on the basis of the purely “hydrocarbon” family crossover Jetour X90 Plus, already known in Russia.
The expansion of the Jetour model range is bearing fruit: sales of this Chery subsidiary brand in China in the first three quarters of 2023, according to CAAM (China Association of Automobile Manufacturers), increased compared to sales in January-September 2022 by 19.9% to 120,892 cars, additional growth should be provided by the electrified (read — hybrid) line of Shanhai with its own logo. Over the next two years, the Shanhai line will include eight different hybrids, and the first model will be the large plug-in hybrid crossover Jetour Shanhai L9 with three rows of seats.
From the original “hydrocarbon” crossover with the index X90, which has been produced since 2019, the hybrid Shanhai L9 differs in fashionable narrowed “optics” and more refined decor, but the traction battery screwed to the bottom has somewhat spoiled the profile and reduced the ground clearance. It is curious that the official renderings of the new product do not show the battery “sag” under the bottom, but in live photographs of the Chinese magazine Autohome it is clearly visible, and on the starboard side the battery is bypassed by the exhaust manifold, which was initially located in the center. In short, the original body was not designed to accommodate a plug-in hybrid powertrain, so the conversion was not very neat.

Overall length of Jetour Shanhai L9 — 4862 mm, width — 1925 mm, height — 1784 mm, wheelbase — 2850 mm. The hybrid power plant is designed for front-wheel drive only, it includes a 1.5-liter petrol turbo engine SQRH4J15 (156 hp, 220 Nm), a dual electric motor (271 hp, 395 Nm) and a 2-speed gearbox DHT gears, maximum total system power — 427 hp. The Shanhai L9 accelerates to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds, the top speed is limited to 180 km/h.

The capacity of the traction battery of the basic version of Air Light is not indicated, it is only known that with it the electric range is 55 km according to the CTC cycle; in the advanced versions of Air, Pro and Max, a battery with a capacity of 19.43 kWh allows an electric range of 108 km, and in hybrid mode, the crossover's range with a fully filled tank (60 l) is 1,100 km. Curb weight varies from 1870 to 1922 kg depending on the modification. Standard wheels are 18-, 19- or 20-inch.

The interior of the hybrid is almost completely new, more premium and minimalist in appearance than the original Jetour X90 Plus; instead of a two-screen display, separate instrument and multimedia screens are installed, and all secondary functions are tied to the multimedia screen, there is no longer a separate microclimate unit, and on the central tunnel A tray with wireless charging for two smartphones has appeared between the front seats. The cabin configuration can be 5- or 7-seater, trunk volume is not specified.
In China, the Jetour Shanhai L9 at the pre-sale stage costs from 166,900 yuan (2.1 million rubles translated according to current exchange rate), the actual minimum retail price will, as usual in China, be slightly lower.
