This summer, another new Chinese brand appeared, which demonstrated a large crossover in the now fashionable brutal style. Like many other cars from the Middle Kingdom, it received relatively small wheels, but we decided to correct the situation and present a car with more proportional “legs.”
The first photos of the new crossover appeared in July this year. It is made by BAW, which in 2020 split from the BAIC automaker, which has existed since 1958. The SUV will be produced under the new brand Jishi (aka Stone), and the first-born received the simple name 01.

The design of the new product (like some other recent Chinese crossovers) has many similarities with the latest generation Land Rover SUV, which premiered in the fall of 2019. The crossover body turned out to be quite good in terms of proportions, but the main problem of the model can be considered that the wheels are too small and narrow for such a bulky car.

The Jishi 01 is significantly longer than the five-door Defender 110 — 5295 mm versus 5035 mm with a spare wheel on the rear door. In this indicator, the Defender 130, which was presented last spring, is much closer to the Chinese new product — 5358 mm. As for technology, the new Chinese SUV is a rechargeable hybrid, which includes a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine that recharges the battery, two electric motors and a battery with a capacity of 56 kWh. As befits a crossover of this size, it has a three-row interior layout.

Meanwhile, we previously tried on more proportional wheels for the Haval F7/F7x and Lifan Myway crossovers. Write in the comments what other Chinese models might be suitable for our “Leg Day” section!
