The President of the Russian Academy of Sciences spoke in the State Duma about financing fundamental developments for defense

Scientists discussed the results of the Academy's work

The main point of the meeting of the Committee on Science and Education of the State Duma of the Russian Federation on Thursday was the report of the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Krasnikov on the work of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Gennady Krasnikov called the creation of St. -Petersburg branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In this regard, the complex of historical buildings at Universitetskaya Embankment, 5, in the city on the Neva, returned to the Academy.

In addition, according to Krasnikov, the Southern Association of Institutes has been created, which includes 150 industry and academic research institutes.

He called another achievement the launch of the sixth subprogram on fundamental and exploratory research for the defense and security of the country.

"In October, the Government issued a decree on the launch, sources of funding were found…"  – said Krasnikov.

According to him, a single scientific space is now being created in the country.

"Not all of our institutes not only did not have scientific and methodological guidance from the RAS, but even they didn’t give us their work for examination, – said the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences. – Now the Kurchatov Institute has come under scientific and methodological management. <…> It is important that the Higher School of Economics and RANEPA also send us their works for examination.”

In general, this year the Russian Academy of Sciences conducted more than 40 thousand scientific examinations.
