The Bolshoi Theater announced that it will not be able to increase the number of screenings of “The Nutcracker”

MOSCOW, November 14 General Director of the State Academic Bolshoi Theater Vladimir Urin said that the Bolshoi Theater will not be able to increase the number of performances of the ballet “The Nutcracker” due to physical capabilities of the artists.
“During the New Year holidays, the Bolshoi Theater plays 22 performances of the ballet “The Nutcracker”. None of the Bolshoi Theater ballets are performed in such a large number… Why can't we increase the number of performances? We must understand that we are not a cinema with sessions, there are live actors working on stage,” Urin told reporters on Tuesday.
He noted that performing “The Nutcracker” in Yuri Grigorovich’s choreography is a colossal work. “Therefore, due to the physical capabilities of the artists, we cannot increase the number of performances of the Nutcracker ballet,” Urin emphasized.
