In the absence of competitions, the social life of Olympic champions Alina Zagitova and Anna Shcherbakova pulsates like a sprinter's vein. Both have put their careers on pause, both perform in ice shows and are engaged in commercial affairs: Alina releases a clothing collection and maintains a video blog, Anya collaborates under numerous advertising contracts.
But if we have been accustomed to Zagitova on the red carpet for a long time (and have not yet to cool down after a sultry image with a repetition of Instasamka’s transparent costume, this was in the summer at the VK Fest festival), then Shcherbakova is a relatively new person in this role. It’s all the more interesting to watch them when they both end up at the same event. This time — an award from The Voice magazine (formerly Cosmopolitan).
Similar in their main achievement — Olympic gold, in many other respects the figure skaters are diametrically different. Alina discovered her beauty and sexuality long ago and no longer tries to hide them, knowing full well what power they have. Anya is more delicate and reserved; she never even wore ultra-short skirts in her competition costumes. Her niche is neat elegance.
There seems to be one piece of clothing — a corset. It forms the basis of both girls' dresses — a very fashionable trend now. But Alina’s corset is deeply low-cut, with a push-up effect — lifting her breasts. There is almost no skirt. It is replaced by something like a small lace pareo on the hips with a piece of lace hanging loosely — a game of train. Long gloves seem to be supposed to add severity and reduce the degree of fire, but since they are made of the same thin lace, they have the opposite effect.
The simplest, even modest black pumps with low heels work to benefit the look. Large jewelry accessories — necklaces and earrings — create the impression of armor, which is so necessary for a very openly dressed girl. Apparently, the long fur coat in which Alina poses in several frames performs a similar task. Although she looks so confident that the fur coat can be considered more of a direct reference to luxury. And not something you want to wrap yourself in out of awkwardness and cold.
Shcherbakova's corset is a strict white canvas with several darts that model the silhouette. The neckline seems to be quite deep, but due to the high exaggerated shoulder pads and long sleeves it looks quite closed. Plus the length of the skirt, reaching to the ankles. In a word, sheer elegance.
The accents of the look are a large black flower on the neck, a black Chanel handbag and black shoes with a pointed toe and bows. Monochrome color scheme, discreet makeup with false eyelashes and a sleek ponytail. Perhaps this would be the way to go to the Bolshoi Theater, to the races (just add a hat) or an informal tea party with the royal family. Probably, Anna will have similar tasks in the foreseeable future.
Despite the fact that Anna and Alina each sound in their own tonality, in all joint photos they combine well. Largely thanks to the harmonious color scheme. The overall picture also enhances the individuality of each: it immediately becomes obvious that both dressed in accordance with their taste and internal boundaries. Fortunately, the party was conducive to such a manifestation of personal choice.
There is no doubt that many fans will want to oppose Zagitova and Shcherbakova because of their dresses. One will be called vulgar, the other — the standard of style. Or one — relaxed and bold, and the other — boring and flat.
But it would be nice to avoid unnecessary comparisons altogether. Anna Shcherbakova and Alina Zagitova are beautiful in themselves, regardless of their outfits. Yes, it’s a pity that we can no longer admire them on the ice. But carpets in this sense give girls even more freedom. And we will continue to watch the new life of the champions with interest.
