The local representative office said that the SUV of the Chinese brand, owned by Chery, will appear at dealers in the Russian Federation early next year.
Chery's company presented a separate global brand, Jaecoo, at the Shanghai Auto Show, held in the spring of 2023. At the same time, a little before the debut, it became known that the new brand would also appear on the Russian market, here it takes the place of the “senior offshoot” of another Chery brand, which was given the name Omoda. Let us remind you that the first-born of Jaecoo in the Russian Federation was the J7 crossover; its sales started at the end of September; by the way, you can already read a test drive of this SUV on Kolesa.ru. The new Jaecoo product on the Russian car market will be big crossover J8, today the local representative office of the brand officially announced this model. It is known that this SUV will reach dealers in early 2024. The company promised to reveal details about the Russian version of the model closer to the official start of sales.
Jaecoo J8 is a Chery Tiggo 9 with different logos and nameplates. Let us remind you that Chery’s flagship crossover was declassified back in February of this year. The model with the J8 index received a massive radiator grille with vertical chrome strips (but without additional edging, like the twin from Chery). At the same time, the headlights visually merge with the “grill” through thin “jumpers”.

The Jaecoo J8 crossover received traditional exterior mirrors, retractable door handles, and roof rails. The rear lights are designed as a single wide strip that runs from one rear fender to the other across the entire width of the tailgate. On its upper part there is a large spoiler with an integrated brake light.
In terms of dimensions, the new Jaecoo will probably be the same as the Chery Tiggo 9; we recall that its length is 4820 mm, width – 1930 mm, height – 1699 mm, and the distance between the axles is 2820 mm. In the interior of the J8 crossover, there is a large display on the front panel, which combines a virtual instrument panel and a touchscreen of the infotainment system: each display has a diagonal of 12.3 inches.

The Russian office noted that the Jaecoo J8 will receive various interior trim options, including Nappa leather, as well as interior lighting in 256 different colors. The SUV was also promised various security systems and a set of modern driver assistants.

The “filling” of the crossover is the same as that of the Chery Tiggo 9. It is known that in China, the flagship SUV Chery was equipped with a petrol 2.0-liter turbo-four TGDI, the output of which is 261 hp. (in the Russian Federation it will most likely be reduced to a “tax-favorable” 249 hp, like another relative – Exeed RX), and the maximum torque is 400 Nm. It is paired with a seven-speed robot with two clutches; an 8-speed automatic transmission will appear later. The model will also subsequently acquire a version with a rechargeable hybrid unit C-DM.
