In Russia there is a significant increase in tablet sales. Considering the widespread use of technology and its close contact with users, consumers have special requirements for the safety and quality of these devices.
Therefore, entrepreneurs who want to legally produce and sell tablets in the Russian Federation must undergo a certification procedure in accordance with technical regulations. This is a mandatory process that includes laboratory testing of products. Obtaining a permit issued based on research results is a necessary condition for legal activities in the field of tablet sales.
Yuri Moshkov, an expert at Sercons, shared his knowledge about the certification of tablet computers.< /p>
According to the expert, tablets are subject to mandatory certification within the framework of the technical regulations of the Customs Union (TR CU) 020 “Electromagnetic compatibility of technical equipment”, and if they have a charger, also according to TR CU 004 “On the safety of low-voltage equipment”. In addition, the device must undergo the declaration procedure in accordance with EAEU TR 037 “On restricting the use of hazardous substances in electrical and radio electronics products.”
The process of issuing a permit for certification is strictly regulated by technical standards and includes such stages as: provision of documents, verification of documentation and making a decision on the start of certification activities, selection of product samples and sending them for examination to the laboratory, drawing up a certificate/declaration, registration in a unified register Federal accreditation, and then sent to the client.

The key point in both mandatory and voluntary certification are laboratory tests, because it is here that the equipment is studied from all sides to assess safety. For each product, there are a number of indicators that are tested. And if you miss at least one of them, the certificate may be invalid.
“The certification process follows general rules, but it must be taken into account that not all testing laboratories conduct certification tests for this category of products. You can certify a batch of tablets; to do this, it will be enough to select the required number of samples and conduct tests. Or certify mass-produced tablets, which will additionally require an analysis of the state of production,” noted the Sercons specialist.
The company added that the presence of incomplete documentation or the use of outdated samples is considered a violation of the administrative rights, which has negative consequences for business: a fine of up to 300,000 rubles, confiscation of goods and even termination of the company’s activities until the deficiencies are eliminated.
Technical regulations and norms provide for the issuance of certificates for tablets for up to 5 years years — for serial production. In the case of a batch, the duration is limited by the shelf life of the product.
