One bomb “cleanses out” the entire fortified area
The statement of the Russian command that Russian troops will respond to the supply of American cluster munitions to Ukraine, judging by the video that appeared on the Internet, has been fully realized. Resource “DV Warrior” published a video that allegedly captured the first mass use of the Russian RBK-500 cluster bomb in the Northern Military District in the Staromayorsky area.
The US began supplying cluster munitions to Ukraine several months ago. They explained this decision by saying that conventional ammunition in American arsenals had run out. Cluster bombs and artillery shells are dangerous because they are filled with hundreds and thousands of combat elements, which are fired at a certain height and create a zone of continuous destruction over a large area.
The danger of cluster munitions is also that, as shown practice, not all combat elements work properly and thereby turn into minefields on the ground. For this reason, the same United States limited the supply of such ammunition to other countries, but in the case of Ukraine they violated their own prohibitions. The States do not feel sorry for Ukraine.
Moscow condemned the supply of cluster munitions to Ukraine and warned that the Russian army also has such weapons that have not yet been used in the Northern Military District. And now the Ukrainian Armed Forces have experienced for themselves for the first time what Russian half-ton RBK-500 cluster bombs are.
The video, filmed from several angles using drones, clearly shows that dozens of combat elements of one cluster munition almost simultaneously hit the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the forest belt. The enemy has no chance of surviving such a blow. A zone of complete destruction of manpower and equipment is being created. In the commentary, Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers are advised to start “getting used to living underground.”
Information resource “Two Majors” reminded what cluster munitions are. A single bomb cluster of 500 kg caliber can be filled with 15 self-aiming anti-tank combat elements. They are designed to destroy modern tanks and other armored vehicles in jammed conditions. It can hit up to six tanks at the same time.
The bomb is used in the altitude range of 400-5000 m at a speed of 500-1900 km/h. In addition, the Smerch multiple launch rocket system has a cluster warhead.
In addition to anti-tank submunitions, a cluster bomb can carry 560-570 high-explosive combat elements. Judging by the video, these are the types of ammunition that were used near Staromayorsky. It is possible that it was possible to equip free-falling bombs with planning and correction modules and turn them into high-precision glide munitions.
