Externally, the basic all-terrain vehicle now repeats the rich version. The reforms did not affect the technology.
In most countries, Toyota's frame SUV based on the Hilux pickup truck is called Fortuner, but in Argentina and Brazil the model has a different name — SW4. Both SUVs have been in the current, second generation since 2015; they underwent a full restyling in 2020. The third generation of Fortuner/SW4 is approaching, however, as expected, the new all-terrain vehicle will be presented only next year, so for now Toyota is selectively modernizing the current model: this time a portion of the new things went to the South American version. Let us remind you that the Toyota SW4 is produced at the company's Argentine plant.
Updated basic Toyota SW4 and pre-reform initial version
As in other markets, in South America, after restyling three years ago, the standard all-terrain vehicle was presented with two design options (Brazilians still have access to the “warmed-up” version of GR-Sport). And now the base SW4 looks the same as the luxurious Diamond version (in Southeast Asia the rich Fortuner is called Legender): bumpers and a radiator grille have been carried over from the top SUV. In addition, the sills of the cheapest SW4 are now painted black (previously they were silver), and the model also received different 18-inch wheels. In addition, in Brazil the base trim was renamed from SRX to SRX Platinum. By the way, last year Toyota unified the Fortuner design in Thailand.

The interior remains the same. However, back in the summer, the Toyota SW4 acquired a 9-inch multimedia system screen (previously it was 8-inch). The list of standard equipment also includes all-round cameras, dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control and a lane marking monitoring system. The “simple” SW4 comes with a five- or seven-seater cabin, while the top version Diamond is exclusively seven-seater.
The technology is the same. In Argentina and Brazil, the Toyota SW4 is available only with a 2.8 turbodiesel engine producing 204 hp, which is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The Brazilian SW4 GR-Sport is boosted to 224 hp. diesel 2.8 and retuned suspension. The South American model is all-wheel drive by default.
