SIMFEROPOL, November 23. The Razdolnensky District Court of Crimea sentenced a citizen of Ukraine — a member of the illegal armed formation «Crimean Tatar Volunteer Battalion named after Noman Chelebidzhikhan»* banned in the Russian Federation to 5 ,5 years in a maximum security colony, the court’s press service reported.
“The court sentenced a Ukrainian citizen born in 2000 to five years and six months of imprisonment in a maximum security colony for participation in the activities of the illegal armed formation “Crimean Tatar Volunteer Battalion named after Noman Celebidzhikhan”*,” the message says.
The court found that in January 2019 the defendant voluntarily arrived at the camp of the illegal armed formation “Crimean Tatar Volunteer Battalion named after Noman Chelebidzhikhan” located near the village of Chongar in the Genichesk region of the Kherson region.
The defendant took an active part in the activities of the formation, received a salary, and was provided with uniforms. He did not declare his voluntary termination of participation in the formation, the report says.
It is reported that the defendant agreed with the charges brought against him, admitted his guilt, and sincerely repented of his deeds.
The verdict has not entered into legal force.
