MOSCOW, November 25 Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography (MIIGAiK) demonstrated a digital model of the relief of the area on the Moon where the Luna station was supposed to make a soft landing 25″.
The area north of the Boguslavsky crater on the visible side of the Moon was chosen as the priority landing site for the Luna-25 interplanetary station, but the device never landed. On August 19, the station switched to an off-design orbit, collided with the Moon and ceased to exist. Later, the head of Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov, said that the engine of Luna-25, when trying to move into a pre-landing orbit, worked for 127 seconds instead of 84, as a result of which the device crashed into the Earth’s satellite.
Visitors to the Congress of Young Scientists will be able to see a digital model of the proposed landing site of the Luna-25 mission, the university noted.
From November 28 to 30, the III Congress of Young Scientists, which is part of the plan for the Decade of Science and Technology and is its key annual event, will be held on the Sirius federal territory.
