MOSCOW, Nov 30. Two heads of Moscow PR agencies who published fakes in popular Telegram channels were detained for extortion, the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Irina Volk told reporters.
According to her, the attackers published fakes about politicians, businessmen and representatives of law enforcement agencies. For the removal of this information and refusal to further reproduce it, they demanded that a large sum of money be transferred.
“»Two heads of PR agencies were taken into custody by the decision of the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow. The police conducted searches in the homes of the suspects and the offices they used. The media were confiscated information with information about negative publications posted and reports on profits made, as well as other items of evidentiary value,” said Volk.
The representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs also added that about 20 people were involved in the extortion. The role of each of them is established.
The investigator has combined criminal cases into one proceeding on the grounds of crimes provided for in Part 3 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (extortion). The investigation continues.
