Positive Russian news of the week
Ukraine is in a “critical situation” and we need to prepare “for bad news,” NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg said in an interview with the German TV channel Das Erste. It was a positive end to the week. And the beginning was also very inspiring: Putin actually legalized Russians in Russia and raised the status of the Northern Military District to global heights.
Soviet posters dedicated to the friendship of the peoples of the USSR and all sorts of holidays usually depicted a Russian working man surrounded, respectively, by fraternal nationalities. Finding such a modern poster now is almost impossible. Because in today’s crafts, the “brotherly people” will definitely be in first place, and the Russian will be represented, at best, by some girl (and this gender positioning is also symptomatic). With the beginning of the SVO, the word “Russian”, of course, became possible to pronounce even from the TV screen, but officials and media managers, pronouncing it, still looked around fearfully. Because it’s not clear what it’s like “up there”? Now it’s clear.
“Without Russians as an ethnic group, without the Russian people, there is and cannot be a Russian world and Russia itself,” Putin said, speaking at the World Russian People’s Council. This is real — a Russian coup. It was simply impossible to imagine two decades ago.
Another important ideological definition was given: “The Russian world is all the generations of our ancestors and our descendants who will live after us. The Russian world is Ancient Rus', the Muscovite Kingdom, the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, modern Russia, which is returning, strengthening and multiplying its sovereignty as a world power. The Russian world unites everyone who feels a spiritual connection with our Motherland, who considers themselves a native speaker of the Russian language, history, culture, even regardless of nationality and religious affiliation.”
And from here it logically follows that the Northern Military District is our national liberation struggle, and not at all a battle with Ukraine: “our battle for sovereignty, for justice, without any exaggeration, is of a national liberation nature, because we defend the security and well-being of our people.” And since “without a sovereign, strong Russia, no lasting, stable world order is possible,” then “We are now fighting for the freedom of not only Russia, but the whole world. We openly say that the dictatorship of one hegemon — we see it, everyone sees it now — is becoming decrepit. She has become, as they say, a peddler and is simply dangerous to those around her.”
Policy statement. Programming.
A practical step was immediately taken. Putin increased the size of the Armed Forces by 170 thousand people: “Set the regular strength of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to 2,209,130 units, including 1,320,000 military personnel.” So that no one doubts “there” — everything is serious here.
Patriarch Kirill spoke at the VRNS. He spoke about the most important problem — uncontrolled migration. Because it is along this line that they will first begin to break Russia from within. Why, they’ll start, they’ve already started. However, as always, any of our global problems rests on our own socio-economic structure. “The value of profit cannot be higher than the value of a state that is ready to defend the interests of the state-forming people,” the patriarch said. The words are absolutely correct, but their actual implementation is like walking to China. And therefore, for now we have what we have: “A massive influx of emigrants who do not speak Russian, who do not have proper ideas about Russian history and culture, about our traditions and customs, and, therefore, are unable — and, often, unwilling — integrate into Russian society, changes the appearance of Russian cities, leads to the deformation of the single legal, cultural, linguistic space of the country.” The greed of capitalists is insatiable, for them there is nothing higher than profit.
In Israel, meanwhile, the truce ended. Surprisingly, all normal people in the world and Ukrainian politicians were unanimous on the issue of ending the conflict. The motive was just different. Some wanted to stop the genocide of Palestinians, others wanted to return attention to themselves.
And Kyiv is in real trouble with this. The US gives bombs and missiles primarily to Israel; money is also a problem. Here is Pentagon spokesman John Kirby sadly stating at a White House briefing: “As I said, there is less and less time to make decisions. I believe we have until about the end of the year until it becomes really difficult to support Ukraine. And the end of the year is already approaching.” Here, the authoritative publication The Economist publishes an article “How a gloomy mood swept Europe”: “The summit on Ukraine’s accession to the EU, scheduled for mid-December, was supposed to rain down cash flows on Kyiv and guarantee membership in the union. But Orbán and Wilders, who oppose EU enlargement, are preventing the meeting from achieving its goals. Kyiv may face a shortage of money as early as the beginning of next year.”
And most importantly, an active search for the culprit has already begun. I wonder if it will help Zelensky if he hides under the bed or, say, in the closet? Because even Vitaly “not only everything” Klitschko, a well-known intellectual, even says that Zelensky is “paying for his mistakes,” and “Zaluzhny told the truth [about the deadlock at the front]. Sometimes people don't want to hear the truth. He explained and justified what the situation is today.” And further: “Of course, we can lie to our people and partners with euphoria. But you can’t do this forever.”
The word “negotiations” does not leave the front pages of the world press. I really hope they realized it too late. And who should we negotiate with? Considering Putin's statement about the “national liberation nature” of the conflict? Apparently, we must wait for the “bad” news, from Stoltenberg’s point of view.
