Killed: 11-year-old girl, 12 A 61-year-old woman was seriously wounded and two officers were injured when they were also injured. stabbed after responding to a 911 call from a home in Far Rockaway, Queens.
Police arrived on the scene after a woman said her cousin was killing her family members with a steak knife.

When they arrived, the suspect, a 38-year-old man, was leaving the house with luggage. He pulled out a knife and stabbed one officer in the neck and chest and another in the head, police said at a news conference.
The man, identified as Courtney Gordon, was then shot and killed. Gordon was a Bronx resident with a previous arrest for domestic violence.
Both officers were taken to the hospital, but neither suffered life-threatening injuries.
Police were unable to enter the apartment . immediately because the suspect set the couch on fire. Once inside, they found three victims. The young girl's body was found outside the property.
“The scene was one of chaos, multiple casualties, a burning house and a rampaging madman on a mission,” said Patrick Henry, president of the New York Police Benevolent Association.< /p>
NYPD Chief Jeffrey Maddrey praised his officers, saying, “They could easily have let this man walk past them with his luggage. Instead, they stopped, asked a couple of questions, tried to get some information before going straight there.
“Unfortunately, they encountered the perpetrator in this incident. He walked straight at them.”
