Industry trends and current analytics
During the conference, Zakhar Ignatenko, head of the group for working with key clients of Avito Special Equipment, presented exclusive market analytics for the sale of commercial vehicles and special equipment:
- 48% of the demand is for Chinese-made equipment, and the Russian share is 25%, according to data for October 2023. At the same time, there is a slowdown in the growth of the share of Chinese manufacturers. Thus, compared to October 2022, the growth was 2%. One of the reasons for this dynamics is that consumers are still little familiar with Chinese brands.
- Among sellers, the share of Chinese brands increased by 24% from October 2022 to October 2023.
- Special equipment market continues to strengthen and develop its digital presence. Thus, the audience of Avito Special Equipment has grown by 38% over the past 12 months. In the segment of road construction equipment, excavators, loaders and front loaders are of particular interest.
David Papazyan, Key Account Manager at Avito Special Equipment, shared his analysis of the special equipment rental market.
The predominant rental supplier of special equipment are small fleets:
- Today in Moscow, more than half of all rental offers are small suppliers, and in the Moscow region — more 80%.
- The digitalization of processes is also increasing in the rental segment. Thus, demand in Avito Special equipment in this category increased by 28% for the period from October 2022 to October 2023.
Panel discussion: what awaits the market of commercial vehicles and special equipment in 2024
During the discussion, the speakers told how 2023 went, discussed the current state of the industry and the directions of its development. Among the discussion participants are Evgeny Gorely, General Director of DST-Ural, Maxim Spitsin, Executive Director of Sinoway Industrial Group, Evgeny Zhevako, Commercial Director of FAV-Eastern Europe, Andrey Kovalev, Head of Avito Special Equipment, and other speakers.
The general trend of the year was a large increase in sales, business scaling and its further restructuring. As Inga Mogila, General Director of IC Techinkom, noted, in 2023 the market expanded due to the filling of Chinese manufacturers. Therefore, now there is not only pent-up demand, but also the strengthening of domestic producers.
According to experts, stabilization and sustainable development of the market are expected in 2024. In their forecasts, the speakers specifically focused on improving quality, finding new solutions for growth and service. Evgeniy Zhevako notes that they see great potential for development in mainline and special-purpose equipment. At the same time, it is important to strengthen the workforce with storekeepers and people who can work with logistics. Evgeny Gorely predicts that in the future the industry will face global robotization and the introduction of new solutions within three years.
