The characteristics of the Yangwang U9 supercar from BYD have been revealed: 1305 hp. and 300 km/h

A four-engine electric supercar U9 from the Yangwang luxury brand launched last year by BYD has surfaced in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry, which means that its sales will begin in the coming months.

The entry of the Yangwang brand into the market (the name translated from Latinized Chinese into Russian means “look up”) stalled a little: two debut Yangwang models – the large frame hybrid SUV U8 and the electric supercar U9 – premiered back in April of this year at the Shanghai Auto Show, but They have not yet entered the market; usually Chinese companies launch new products more quickly. It is known that production of the Yangwang U8 SUV has begun – car transporters with it are already plying Chinese highways, shipments to customers will begin in the near future. The Yangwang U9 supercar will probably go on sale next year.

From the plate published today by the Chinese Ministry of Industry, we learned that the four-motor powerplant of the Yangwang U9 will be more powerful than expected: an electric motor is installed on each wheel with a maximum output of 240 kW, for a total of 960 kW or 1305 hp. Top speed is limited to 300 km/h. The overall length of the supercar is 4966 mm, width is 2029 mm, height is 1295 or 1338 mm depending on the modification, wheelbase is 2900 mm. The standard wheel size is 275/35 R 21 at the front and 325/30 R 21 at the rear.

The battery capacity has not yet been disclosed, but, apparently, it is large, because the declared curb weight of the Yangwang U9 is as much as 2475 kg, the total weight is 2625 kg! For comparison, let's say that the Hyper SSR supercar from GAC, released on the Chinese market in October, weighs 1990 kg in running order. The Hyper SSR three-motor power plant produces 1225 hp, battery capacity is 74.69 kWh, range on a single charge is 506 km on the CLTC cycle, maximum speed is 250 km/h. Hyper SSR is so far the main and only Chinese competitor for the Yangwang U9.

The Yangwang U9 has a composite body, the suspension is assembled on metal subframes, but the design details have not yet been disclosed. But you can already admire the interior; it can be called more luxurious than sporty. Comfortable chairs are equipped with many electrical adjustments. Three screens are installed in the front panel, including entertainment for the passenger. Leather, suede and carbon fiber are widely used in the decoration.

Yangwang U9 will have at least two versions: the one equipped with a high rear wing, oriented towards the track and, probably, has some special settings chassis.

Yangwang U9 will cost more than a million yuan, since GAC asks for a minimum for Hyper SSR 1,286,000 yuan ($180,000 at current exchange rates), while BYD positions the Yangwang brand as the pinnacle of luxury. However, there will also be relatively affordable models in the range: the third Yangwang model will be the U6 sedan, its premiere is expected next year.
